Graham Murray.
Everywhere he goes he brings success, no matter what club he's with.
Turned the Steelers into a force in the early 90s (finishing better than today's top 8 - 1991: 8th, 1992: 3rd, 1993: 7th, 1994: 6th) won a pre-season and finished 3rd in 92 (was coach of the year). Was sacked in early 95 for being a SL recruit and the Steelers never recovered. He played a role in alot of the goings on at the club, they were lost without him and in hindsight should of listened to him about Super League. Was a father figure to the players, many stars left to follow him to SL.
The Hunter Mariners in 1997, got them to the final of the WCC and almost beat Brisbane (would of won the club $1mil) despite rumours that the club would not exist the following season.
Got the Roosters to their first GF in years. Was basically sacked because Gould didn't like him and didn't want to see Murray achieve what he couldn't. Murray wouldn't let Gould be a puppet master. Was well liked be the players.
Now with the Cowboys and says he can see great similarities with he's time with the Steelers. Interesting to note, the Steelers gained respect as a credible force in their 10th season (this is the Cowboys 10th season) and gave the premiership a real shake the following year (their finals campaign ended controversially, the same sort of bad luck with crucial decisions that the Cowboys seem to get as well). Will the Cowboys do something similar next year?
A top bloke with the bad luck of controversy following him.
Graham Murray = Super Coach.
