You would think I have been full of praise for Mary.
Do you read my posts regarding Mary?
Let me set it straight for you and the Grouch.
Mary is over conservative and stuck in a time warp like the rest of the people at the club. His player selection is ultra negative IMO. A classic example when Dugan was injured last year he went with Nighty at FB even though he initially said Dufty and Field were a chance. He will not roll the dice and take a punt on a player. He has no vision and coaches in the moment only disregarding the longterm development of the team. He makes excuses all the time and never takes ownership for his shortcomings.
His use of the bench is the laughing stock of the comp.
He has a very limited game plan and cannot adapt depending on the opposition like the good coaches can.

OK, positives. He seems to be good at creating a happy sustainable environment for the players. They seem to like him and are not rushing to leave the club mostly. We have re-signed the likes of Widdop, Vaughan, Frizell and it seems that the loss of Dugan and Packer wasn't based on the coach it was a $$$ decision.

If the Dragons were to announce the sacking of Mary today and the signing of a new coach I would be excited. It would surely be positive.
Do I think McGregor can develop into a great coach? NO. He is too stuborn.
Do I think the dragons can still do well with McGregor? Yes. I don't believe the coach is everything and that teams can do well if the team is committed enough and talented enough.

What frustrates me is the constant bagging and death riding of Mary. I don't get it. Sure have a crack at him and be critical of his coaching but people like Grouch who do nothing but focus on the negatives makes no sense to me. Its like complaining about the weather or something. Everyone is suffering but no need to constantly complain about it.
I don't hate McGregor. I hope that he somehow turns things around. I doubt he can but I hope he does.
He seems to me like a decent human being.

It's sad that we've become so voiceless and powerless that the idea of effecting a change to the coach is seen as futile as attempting to change the weather. This is truly the worst kind of negativity. Once upon a time this club listened to it's fanbase.

The reason this coaching regime is on the nose is because the whole premise from appointment of McGregor (while ignoring JD) through to the media spin doctoring, rationalization of failure and back room factional support, is corrupt.
This is not just about performance.

It will all depend on who is named as Doust's replacement. If it not an internal appointment and the new CEO is selected on merit, I have no doubt that Mary will be sacked and if this happens, my tip is that Hasler will be hired. If the Illawarra side of the joint venture is purchased by WIN TV, I can't see much change being seen at Board level in the near future. The positives will all be related to the Club's debt with the NRL however the negatives may be the push to move all to the gong.

Just on JD. Remember the kick from a scrum deep in our 25 during the Inter state cup final two years ago. Lead to another try. I wonder how long it will take before we see some innervation from our coaching staff with young Dufty in the side. If i were Ben Hunt i,d be trying all sorts of kicks with him off my shoulder. Maybe only James Roberts would be faster that him in the Broncos side.

The problem with what you say here is very real , until the whole jobs for the boys thing is dismantled this rubbish will continue . We need outside influence , not the inbred club we have become .....

More likely it would be announced that Young & Hornby will become head co-coaches in a new revolutionary structure under Director of Coaching (McGregor) instigated by a panel committee of former club stalwarts.

I saw Bellamy interviewed on foxsports yesterday. What a coach. I loved how he said they tweak their game plan and style of football depending on the personnel they have, playing to everyone's strengths.
We really are a joke.
Not one person has us in their top 8. What does that tell you?
A team that boasts Hunt, Graham, Frizell, Vaughan, Widdop etc and not one tipster has us in their top 8. Instead they have souths, penrith, dogs, even titans in that 5-8 spots.

If we don't make the eight this year I want everyone on the coaching staff sacked. Mary, Hornby, Young, Pickworth, the lot of them can get f**ked.!
