So happy for the young man to finally be out on the paddock, even if it's just for having a run and being amongst his peers...life has unfortunately dealt him a cruel blow but to his credit he still wears that smile of his and wants to be part of wearing the mighty Red V .....it's a credit to you and your family Cody how you carry on with your life and your obvious love and passion for this game of ours when lesser folk would have just been forced to walk away....I hope the rest of the boys appreciate how lucky they are when they see your fighting spirit and what you've had to endure....good luck mate

I've been a bit frustrated by the coverage of this today.. ive seen and heard it across podcasts and social media.. talking about whether he would be back in first grade for 2025/2026.. based on a couple of seconds of jogging..

I am ecstatic for him, I've always backed/loved this kid and his attitude.. but I dont think the headline was intended to explode like it did today, its still very early in a very very long journey.

Didn't know whether to respond with sad or like.
he was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons
Life can be cruel but his ongoing health is paramount.

I doubt he will ever play first grade but hell, if he does, I'll be screaming the roof down.

you never know - if not a player of the future - how about coach :)

Hound. having intimate knowledge this horrible disease, I agree that Cody is extremely unlikely to make it back to play rugby league.
It is fantastic that the club has embraced him and kept him around the team. Best of luck to Cody and I hope he is indeed part of the red v in some capacity going forward.

Agree totally. The disease is debilitating and can ruin life in general. I have experienced this and will wear the scars for the rest of my life. I struggled to get it out of the head. Cody is a credit to his family and his determination to not let it cripple him.

He is a great kid and deserves a better hand to be dealt to him. I will be cheering him on when he eventually gets back out there.

This was interesting on social media

Dragons are willing to only give fullback Cody Ramsey a train-and-trial deal. PVL set to help Ramsey get a deal in Super League if needed due to complex quota rules.

I'm strangely ok with Cody being offered a T&T contract (if this is indeed true).

His current contract doesn't allow him to play NRL and there are many 'conditions' attached to that contract.

So, consider this, a T&T will allow him to play NRL whenever appropriate, without taking up up a top 30 or extended squad spot. Heaven forbid the dirty grubs at NRL level will target him just to gain advantage.

Also, if PVL considers him able to play at ESL level, them he should be given the green light for a few games at NRL level if required.

Therefore, I believe we get the best of both worlds with this deal.

Isn’t it great to see a young Dragon doing so well ! He certainly has just about everything that a fullback requires - speed - good under the high ball - and also a neat 2step that puts opposition defensives completely out of sync . Oh and bag loads of confidence, as many before me have already mentioned , I wonder just which club will use this kid ?
Our coaching and medical staff would be well aware of his current high standard of performance and what he has do and put up with to continue performing at this level. I hope he is medically cleared to be selected at fullback for the 2026 season. If so:
Gutherson to centre
Suli on the bench at 17 or let go.

Ramsey to 7 speed to burn great passing game good defender kicking ?
Ramsey is a specialist fullback and Gutherson is fading with age and time. Suli is a block on our backline's ability to set up his winger. So for me:
1. Ramsey
3. Gutherson
14. Flanagan
17. Suli

For injury backup, we have Flanagan to cover 6, 7, 9.
For 3, 4, 11, 12, we have Suli.

Ando hasn’t made that happen as yet

Ando could make it happen in a heart beat and has not

I think TT for Cody makes sense for 2026 though he has been exciting to watch in 2025 he needs more weight gain and ability to get thru his ongoing recovery
