Well, I wanted to bash Coldplay, but it's been done so poignantly and comprehsensively that there's no need. So let me just say this to them. Die.

You guys have overstepped the mark dragging Radiohead into this sh*tty thread.

Hail To The Thief is a great album - it's a great example of a band that continues to evolve. Pearl Jam suffered the same sort of criticism because they dared not to make clones of Ten and Versus.

Coldplay's problem is that they are making music to make record companies happy. They should just write music. They can actually write some decent music - I didn't mind 'Rush of Blood', but 'X & Y' is utter rubbish.

I think X+Y is better than Rush Of Blood To The Head.

But maybe I just like bland music.

On Radiohead, they dipped badly after OK Computer. That is a modern day classic - since then, rubbish I'm afraid. Call it experimentation, I just don't personally like it.

I couldn't just let this go.

I've liked Coldplay since Parachutes and saw them at the Hordern in 2003, but will miss them next year because I'll be overseas.
CP aren't everyone's cup of tea, but have produced some great albums. If they weren't so big you would be saying they are underrated etc etc.

As for Radiohead....
Radiohead (along with the Smiths) is my favourite band. I saw them twice last April and they blew me away. Kid A is one of the bext albums of all time and just because it's not a copy of OK Computer people bag it.
Amnesiac is underrated and Hail to the Thief is also good. The hard thing for RH is trying to match Ok Computer and Kid A.

Also Thom named his son Noah.

LOL...thats rich from someone getting excited about End of Fashion being at BDO.

Have you actually listened to Kid A more than once?

Obviously you guys are way too cool for me. F***ing cuts me to pieces.
Probably :) However you didn't answer my question. If you haven't given an album a chance it is bloody hard to write it off as "rubbish". I really didn't dig Kid A until maybe a few years ago - now it is probably my fave Radiohead album.

If you hate it - fine. Just be an educated hater is all I am saying...

Sorry mate, was in a bad mood last night... I'll answer it now.

I have listened to Kid A, but yes, only once. And it was years ago, when it was first released. I was as disappointed as you were when you listened to the new Franz Ferdinand album - time that I will never get back. I just didn't understand what they were getting at.

I stand by my one word summary, but I don't hate Radiohead. As I said, I am a fan of their earlier work - just not into their latest stuff. I just can not get into it, and that's a personal thing.

And if me getting excited by End Of Fashion at the BDO makes me lame, then I can live with that... ;)

I've listened to Franz probably half a dozen times now - a few by myself and a few when at other people's places and stuff (let alone listening to triple j and the way they are flogging the album) - my opinion hasn't really changed to be honest. Not brilliant, nothing evolutionary from the last album. Just not excited about it.

I'd give Kid A another go :)

Saw Coldplay at the Horden in 2003, liked Parachutes, throught Rush of Blood was OK. They were good live at that time. My girlfriend bought X+Y, and it still hasn't grown on me. $120 sounds a bit steep?

Saw them at Glastonbury a week after the CD came out, found their performance lacking in passion and energy compared to years before, and their new songs nothing to write home about. Wished I'd gone and watched The Proclaimers on another stage instead.

Radiohead are a world above Coldplay, even post-OK Computer. And live Radiohead are fantastic and passionate with their new material. At least they are putting out stuff that is interesting and different to what they did before, rather than Rush Of Blood part 2...

Who said ti was a bit much to compare Radiohead and Coldplay?

In-fact they're identical - both complete sh*t.

If I want to hear Brit-pop, which I don't, I'd rather listen to Porcupine Tree.

Everyone else puts me to sleep, or makes me want to kill, depending on the time of day.
