Last Sunday the 8th of November an exhibition match of rugby league was organised in Miramar, Argentina, in front of 1000 spectators. The game was held on the field of the (principally) soccer club Defensorer de Miramar.

Teams Mustang and Boar, members of the CARL, each with 7 players, showing off the virtues of the sport, were able to appreciate the enthusiasm of the public, that followed the ups and downs of the game with exclamations, encouragement and applause at the final whistle.

The exhibition match was well liked by the director commision of the Club leading to demands for a further match as a curtain raiser to the up and coming club soccer final.

CARL would like to thank the Club Defensores for their collaboration and publicity of the match, without which the presentation of rugby league before a reasonably large, respectful and appreciative audience would have been impossible.

Between Soccer and Union you would think Argentina would be a tough nut to crack...

Playing in Union countries has both advantages and disadvantages. Don't think it's something that can be avoided if we want to expand

I know this thread was about the game being played, but my attention went straight to the logo. It's not exactly the most appealing or professional of logos for a national body, is it?! You might get away with it if they were a Junior club, but this is a team that -I presume- has international aspirations one day.

True, but how much better would it be if they had a slick logo AND play exhibition games before 1000s?! I'm sure, if they wanted, they could ask the Rugby League community throughout the world, and someone could do one up for them. I did the Spanish one (and several clubs) for this exact reason: I just wanted to help them get started and look like they mean business.
I genuinely don't care if it's me or someone else, but perhaps Argentina could -if they wanted- put a request out there. You never know what talent might be out there that won't cost them a cent!

I know they're up against it, with soccer and union being a lot bigger than League there, but I hope Argentina RL get themselves established properly and can get stronger.

Maybe PM the Latin Heat Facebook page if you're interested in providing any assistance. I'm not 100% sure but I *think* this Argentina stuff stems from the Latin Heat setup.

I think you may be right.
I did, however look up Argentina Rugby League on FB, and one of their old profile pics was this logo ... which is so much better than the one we saw in this thread. I'd alter the style / colour of the text, but I like the rest of it. Nice and simple.

With due respect I don't really think it's the place of Aussies in Australia to decide the nickname of a national team that doesn't exist yet.
