Dragons Sign Mose Masoe

The St George Illawarra Dragons have today announced that Mose Masoe has agreed to terms on a two-year contract that will see him join the Club from next season until at least the end of 2017.

The Samoa international prop, who has been capped seven times, is presently contracted to Super League team St Helens and was part of their Premiership-winning team last season. Masoe, 26, made his first-grade debut for the Sydney Roosters during the 2010 campaign before joining the Penrith Panthers (2013) and St Helens (2014).

“Mose will be a welcome addition to the Club as he is able to provide both the additional size and go-forward which is vital in all strong forward-packs,” said Dragons Director of Recruitment & Retention Peter Mulholland.
“He is presently playing his trade in the traditionally-physical Super League competition and is a key player for the strong St Helens club. “We look forward to welcoming him to the Club during the off-season.”

The Randwick Kingfishers junior has played 108 first-grade games to date (NRL & Super League) and will join the Dragons in November.

Great signing for the Dragons

The St George Illawarra Dragons on Wednesday announced that forwards Mark Ioane and Luke Page have both agreed to terms on respective contracts for the balance of the 2015 season and will join the Club immediately.
Mark Ioane, 24, is a prop-forward who had played 23 NRL games to date and arrives at the Dragons after being granted a release from the Gold Coast Titans.
The Otahuhu Leopards junior was previously a graduate of the successful New Zealand Warriors National Youth Competition team which won the 2010 Premiership in the same year he was selected to the Junior Kiwis squad.
Luke Page, 24, is also a prop-forward who arrives at the Dragons after being granted a release from the Canberra Raiders.
The former Queensland Residents representative (2014) is a former graduate of the Gold Coast Titans National Youth Competition team who joined the Raiders midway through last season.
“Both Ioane and Luke have respectively been recruited to add important depth to the current playing roster and provide cover where needed within the forward-pack,” said Dragons Director of Recruitment & Retention Peter Mulholland.
“Both players demonstrate a willingness to play their role in the squad and we look forward to providing them with an opportunity to continue their own development.”

Mann, 22, played two seasons for the Knights in the NYC competition before joining the Melbourne Storm ahead of the 2013 season.
Mann has played 21 NRL games to date and will join the Dragons in November.

Dragons have certainly drastically improved their front row stocks, which was probably their worst position. They will certainly be a stronger team in 2016 if they can keep their defense going well next year.

Very happy with these signings. Finally strengthening our weaknesses, rather than buying for the sake of a bargain.

Mose and Iaone are decent signings, haven't seen Page to judge. What are people's thoughts on Mann? I think he is deadest terrible. Do people just think he is good because he plays for Melbourne?

Can any Raiders fans clue us in on Heffernan? What is his best position and will be keep playing there for Penrith? What have we picked him up to play?

Glad and sorry to hear you're disappointed to lose him Nick.

Bellamy doesn't let players go without a reason but I'm not as sure of the reason as you are. If Mary gets more from a Bellyache discard, if he is a discard, then he really must be a supercoach in the making

I thought he'd be a star when he played FB against us last year.

I don't think that anymore though.
Maybe Mann's best position is fullback. Maybe Dugan will be playing centre next year?

Fullback - Centre, obviously can play wing as well.. Has spent some time in the halves, so he can play make a bit. IMO Centre his his best position. Not sure where he'd play for Penrith, they have so many young backs so i think its a strange career move for him

Extremely good footwork, beats the first tackler one on one almost every time, got a really nice quick step and explosive acceleration. Has the speed to race away from defenders after a break, is a finesse player, not going to run over the top of anyone, although he's got pretty long arms so his fend is effective.
Defensively is OK, reads the play well but sometimes lacks strength to finish tackles.

Probably t a depth/potential signing, we seem intent on having the best nsw cup team each year. We are losing Simmons and possibly one or two others from outside our top 17 but yeah strange decision to come here.

Manly fans are glad he isn't going to a club that is a premiership threat. I hope he enjoys the rabble out there in Slumville. DCE > Foran by a mile.

I don't think you'll find many manly fans were keen on him returning. Most were against 2.4 million being tied up in two players.

Next year should be a big year for Parra, they celebrate 30 years of nothing. Anyone heard Steve Sharp interviewed, what a dumb merkin.
