This is a cricket thread which will annoy some people but it IS the off-season, so, get over it.

A hearty congratulations to the Australian Cricket team for their first series win in India for 35 years.

This team is, without doubt, the best team I have seen in my lifetime.
There might not be a Steve Waugh there (who incidently, is my hero along with Doug Walters) but it is a team in conversion.....there is a Michael Clarke instead.
In ten years, this kid could have broken all sorts of records.
Thank goodness for Foxtel and their excellent coverage.

Go the Aussies.
Congrats to Adam Gilchrist and the boys.

Suity. :D

Ding dong their witch is dead - first series win in India in my lifetime. Clarke will go on and be one of the greats of the game.

Though we need to make sure there's equally good up and coming bowlers for when McGrath, Gillespie and Warne are no longer around... :?

Great effort - and wasn't Gilly happy!

I don't know if I'd say greatest team of all time - when Punter returns they would be up a notch.....but certainly they are one of the best ever!!! ....mind you, India seem to have fallen off their purch a bit.

I was laughing - you know that TV add where Gilly is being chased by all the Indians going "gilly gilly gilly gilly..." .....well its for real - when the team was walking off the field, the indian photographers were chasing him "gilly gilly gilly" - I thought it was hilarious.

I think Australia will have a slump in cricket within hte next 10yrs....I don't think we have anywhere near the quality we have now coming through.

dont be too sure

we have the best junior training system (Cricket Academy) in the world, thats why why other countries are copying us and Aussies are coaching most of the other counties now.

well done to the Aussies, and they did it without Punter

feel free to drop in and wish them all the best

Well thats part of it - Aussies are coaching and training all over the world - lifting the standards of other countries - but we have peeked....I'm not saying we'll be crap or that we will be the worst country in the world or anything, but we won't dominate like we do now.

the next few years will be very interesting to see how the selectors go about introducing the new and youger talent into the team while maintaining the brilliance of the team.

Tait, Hauritz, Watson.

I'll give you Tait is definately a bowler for the future, but the other two come on! Watson is a batting-allrounder who is a great one-day bowler but will never do enough with the ball to trouble test players! Hauritz well I'm really concerned if we are relying on him. But one spinner that will be good is Cameron White or the young off-spinner that played for NSW Kretza or someting like that. He looks good! Hauritz does not spin the ball he bowls too flat for a test bowler!

Cameron White will be the next test inclusion. Id like Mcgill but he bowls to man loose balls for mine.

I hope so! I'll miss any coverage of our domestic season over here, but keep an eye out for young bowlers ready top step up.

its a good step by the selectors to include some of these younger guys in the touring squad. great experience for them...learning off the established guys and getting used to the routine and expectations without the pressure of playing. undoubtedly michael clarke has benefitted from this experience as he made a few tours before actually getting his start and he looks so comfortable and relaxed. gee...maybe a few other teams or coaches could learn from this approach?!?!?

That was an awesome win!
Congrats to the boys, I felt sorry for Ponting though not being able to get on the field.
I was happy for Gillespie too grabbing a heap of wickets. He has to be one of the unluckiest bowlers, he always bowls well, but doesn't get as many wickets as he deserves.
