Damned shame, but it had to be done. Current society does not tolerate this sort of behaviour. Had the club supported him the stench would've hung around like that of a rotting fish...we could kiss all sponsors goodbye. A pity...but the club has done the right thing to ensure it stays onside in the eyes of the public...it had to.
Sure, Latu brought it on himself...but there is no doubt a hidden factor in all this....booze. Nobody in their right mind would do what he did sober. It's common for young blokes to abuse the grog...did it myself. But put it together with a big head, lack of respect for others, buckets of money, oodles of spare time, groupies, constant adulation from the public and a young bloke can easily think he is 10 foot tall and bulletproof...and stuff up his life like Latu did. Bloody shame but you see it again and again.
IMO, each young RL star should have an older retired player as a mentor, someone who has been there and done that, to try to stop them doing stuff like this. Otherwise they can destroy themselves. They live in a goldfish bowl these days.
