A real captains knock. He led the team around the park and kept them focused on the game when the Sharks tried the niggly stuff to put them off.

Thurston will probably be first picked but that doesn't mean that i can't think Cronk should be their instead.

Whats the quality of the team got to do with Cronks performance? Thurston had a sh*t team this year and look what he produced. sh*t.
LOL What hope does Thurston have if he is playing with geniuss, Cronk is playing in a star studded side that makes him look better than he really is, Now wonder why Dally used to laugh at you.

What did we learn tonight? Bellamy is simply the best coach in the league in terms of making things simple for his players. Aitken looked at the same level as Smith having not played hooker for the team for any decent period. The Storm didn't miss the sMYTH at all.

Cronk simply did what he always does. Will never have the skill levels of a Prince or Thurston but has the ability to play a simple game very well. That doesn't mean he should be an international half under a different coach. Especially with Thurstons habit of winning major tournaments under intense pressure (3N 06) (SOO 08)

um.......... everything. If the rest of the team play like a pack of merkins it doesnt make the halfbacks job easy. If cooper CROCK (see what i did there?) was playing behind a pack that was performing as poorly as the Cows were this year, he would have been in more sh*t than a twigs finger.

take a good look at Cronks performance during the origin series, he was absolutely outstanding behind a "nuffy" side, i didn't rate him 18 months ago but I must admit he's made a tool out of me.

he's up there with thurston and Prince.

Cronk is up there, Thurston just in front imo with Cronk 2nd. Seems like a good bloke, definately should not be playing for the storm.

I am no fan of Cam Smith but that highlighted statement above is ludicrous. Aitken looked out of his depth the whole game and would have been chewed up if the oposition was of better quality.

I used to share the opinion that Cronk was made to look good by the players around him but I was really impressed with his game last night. Him and JT are equal pegging for best half in the NRL IMO

Cronk did a great job, especially as Captain. When he was telling Geyer to "Zip it" I was most impressed.

Dammit, I complimented a Storm player.

Cronk impressed me with his leadership. He has always impressed me with his play. I'm not really sure whether he can lay claim to the #1 halfback in the world title, but he would not look out of place in a Kangaroos jersey- he has shown that before

Cronk was easily the best player on the park last night, looked a cut above everyone else on the field

Depending on fitness of others, he'd only get the nod if the others are all ruled out. Still think guys like JT, Locky, Scott are all ahead of him, well Prince is depateable

Tonight without Smith leading the way for Melbourne, Cronk really stepped up tonight and showed why he is the no. 1 halfback in the game. If he isn't Australia's halfback in the world cup the selectors need to go.

Prince is better than Cronk and Thurston is a five-eighth for mine....

But Cronk did well last night.

"OI! ZIP IT... I SAID ZIP IT!"

It's a bit over the top to say that he should be the Aus halfback....
Cronk is a very solid player and makes the right decisions and moves in attack but he's hasn't got nearly as much talent as Scott Prince or Jonathan Thurston.

As for Thurston in the Cowboys, well let's see he was injured and the whole team was playing crap - Do people expect him to play all positions? Lord.

For one he crumbles terribly under pressure - How effective was he last week?

That being said Cronk had a great game last night and his behaviour as captain was outstanding - He's a great captain.

Cronk was all class post match - just watched it today and the way he went to congratulate Dessie, consoled Issy and behaved in (what I saw of) the press conference were highly commendable.

I won't comment on Slaters studs up try saving attempt tactics as enough has already been said. But i think for all his value Storm fans should be glad to see the back of Crocker. Why he felt the need to flop on Brent Kites arm after he already had the ball well and truly down is beyond me. He could have done some serious damage had Kite not got his arm ouut of the way - pure grubby.

But congrats Cronk, you behaved like a gentleman on what would have been a very tough day for you.

Hate to say but I pretty much agree with you.

Cronk handled himself with class yesterday.

Prince is the number one half back. Cronk spends more time making grand speaches and making sure the folks at home know he is running the show imo. Cronk should be in the squad somwhere.
