Keep trying @possm ..thats old news.
they were happy and knew they were losing Green after his ACL as it was common knowledge he would stay back at Newy if not playing but on the coaching staff.
They have better replacements within and why would anyone spend big $$ on a dressed up Datsun 180B
Even Newcastle who are desperate for a 6 will take a one legged Green who will be unavailable early in the year over a fit Norman
Dont you see..you cant offload him...you cant...no one wants him...we have to wait 12 months :)
The main thing is that Norman realises what is happening in the real world. The more pressure Griffin puts on him and the more his manager realises that no one wants him, the better the chance that Norman's manager finds him another gig before his value plumits.

Too late he likely does not care that much over here...his value plummeted since we have signed him.
No one would pay him more that 2/3rds of what we are these days

Two-thirds would be a good result for him right now. I'd say he is worth 300k tops. The Dogs want Burton but the Panthers won't release him. The Dogs need a five-eighth for 2021 at least. Norman should be their target. Barrett has an ego and will determine he can do what Mary could not do.

After watching Hunt play in SOO2 last night, I am even more interested in off-loading both Norman and Hunt. I think Griffin and his staff will have their work cut out for them trying to fire them up for season 2021.

I'd rather have them off the books and put effort into the young halves coming through.

Benny Hunt player an excellent game last week in Origin 1, one of there best actually.
Fast forward seven days later and you are keen to punt him.
It’s hard on the halves and backline for that matter when your team isn’t winning in the middle of the field.
Look at The nsw halves last night. Cleary a different player last night as he was playing on the front foot all night so credit needs to be shared with the nsw forwards as well as the halves.
If the Dragons forwards can hold there own then Hunt is a fantastic player hence why we still need one very good middle forward in the squad.

Here we go......
We could solve many problems with that approx. 2m dollars for 2021. I'd say a Bird / Sullivan halves combination would not only be more economical, it would likely be substantially better.

After last nights game I am beginning to wonder the same , the mans defense was atrocious and we can expect the same next season . Griffin may improve his attacking prowess , but unfortunately it would seem that he has no hope of doing anything about his defense .

I’ll qualify this with the fact he was behind a beaten pack, was kind of playing more 6 than 7 and I was (like everyone here) hoping Origin would give him a shot of confidence. Game 3 still may do just that.

But I can’t be the only one who thought he would struggle with the pressure of suddenly being thrust in for more or less 80 minutes, instead of the role originally planned. Alas, he seemed to do just that.

I don’t know ..... I’d love to see him tear it up for us next year but I can’t escape that gnawing feeling in my gut that knows it’s probably unlikely. More questions than answers after last night for mine.

Hunt made a huge impact for QLD in game 1 playing at hooker. Hunt is so much better than Friend it is not funny. Hunt is easily in the top 3 hookers of the comp. I believe Saints should persist with Hunt at hooker and McInness at lock. Too easy. I am suprised Hunt does not see it himself as he still persist on playing in the halves. Top 3 in the No.9's dept and probably lucky to make it top 6 in the halves.

I would persist with Norman and give him first crack. I am sure this coaching staff won't give him 20 games to play a good one. If he does not perform early they will easily drop him. That will be the difference in 2021. I can't see many players who put in terrible shifts been given a heap of chances to finally put in a good one. Griffin is new and only has a couple of years to show his worth. He will not punt it on players in the hope they may come good one day.

I think Norman must now realise he has a more than capable guy waiting in the wings to play at half and that should spur him on plus playing for a new deal. There is a heap of pressure on him to perform so may as well let him try and prove himself. Nothing to lose. On his day can be brilliant.

Griffin has no option other than to give both Hunt and Norman the chance to improve . With Hunt there is a chance he may come good , but should our forwards struggle then he will undoubtedly be behind the eight ball once again .

Norman , well what can one say ? The glimpses of good form are few and far between , the man must start to give the game his all only for his own pride .

However as you have said Slippery , in it would be tremendous if both players can come out with all guns blazing next season - not only for themselves , but also for the team .

Ben Hunt is a good player but lacks mental toughness and his game needs to be micromanaged by his coach. He would have gone into last nights match with a clear game plan and instructions from Bennett on what his job involved.

When Cameron Munster came off injured after a couple of minutes, he clearly could not adjust to the change in role and unfortunately failed in both attack and defence.

Sorry to say this, but he’s had years now to show his worth us. The occasional good game here and there does not cut it. I’ve always thought he never looked completely comfortable at the Dragons...I don’t hold much faith in any miraculous turn around in 2021...

Not comfortable because Ben Hunt is not and never was a half to play to structure..especially Mary's.
I watched recently some highlights of him playing under Hook and Bennett in 2014 and 2015 in the No 7 jersey and he was in his prime then with his adlib stuff setting up and scoring tries and good instinctive kicking game.
Yeh the GF loss and dropped ball did knock him around mentally.

Hunt should never been chief organiser, playmaker or kicker.which is why he did Ok with Widdop on the field.
He plays 2nd fiddle to someone like that and provides more impact and game smarts with his impulse stuff whether it be running, passing, shooting down the blind or little dribble kicks...that is ben Hunt to a tee.
Yep...we signed (which I was happy with) but paid too much money expecting him to be the chief organiser on field under Mary structure...never will work like that.
He will do it but it impedes his natural game and abilities.

His defense on the edges has been poor cause he just tries to grab and stop momentum going up high and does not read edge defence well.
Someone else mentioned he does not use his shoulder..true...but he does when in the middle and defends well.
Should he be a 9?...yeh maybe. (but not with us) Should he be our 7 or 6...maybe.
I just dont know which one will suit him now going forward.
I am happy to see him start in the halves but Hook has to unleash him in attack and get him to work hard on defence in the off season and back him if some things dont go to plan when he trys something.
Yes their will be errors but there will be brilliant stuff too.
If he can do this and improve his will to defend he might just win us some games.
Yeh maybe we need to get the guru in just to work with him to become a positive thinker on field ;)

Ben Hunt was good in 2018. Not great but good and remember in 2018 we had a pack of forwards and a big winger who got the team rolling.

We lost Leeson au Mau, JBD from the pack and Tarim on one leg. James Graham was really showing his age. Nene had left. The under appreciated Kurt Mann left for Newcastle and we got Cory Norman, Of course, very early Gareth’s shoulder busted again and he announced he was off anyway. That was that from then on.

For the record I have said that Ben IMO is tops a $700k player who scored extra on his deal with us. He has never played like the reported $950k top shelf player.

However, be fair that any half without a strong forward pack which can hold its own will be compromised.

in the first SOO game Queensland forwards went forward and Ben played very well. Last night he had to quickly assume 5/8 and went ok out of position and behind a forward pack outmuscled by NSW in this game. In defence, he got caught two on one with Teddy stepping inside and still got a an inside dive and reasonable shot at dislodging the ball from Teddy’s right arm grip.

Next year Ben Hunt is one of the least of our worries...we need a strong pack 2018 vintage when but for Gareth’s injury against the Broncos we would have won the comp IMO.

I might be wrong but I think it would be easier for Griffin to get a Sullivan / Bird halves combination firing than a Hunt Norman one.
