Not necessarily. Sport plays an essential role during society, particularly during troubled times when it is a morale booster for a lot of people who are stuck in lockdown. I would think the government would want to avoid getting even further off-side with voters by suspending the competition and exacerbating the suffering it has already imposed on its people.

Very valid point. The other question that needs to be asked is why is there such a massive disparity between Paul Vaughan's punishment and the rest of the Dragons team. I get that he has done is once before but that to me does not equate to an 8 week suspension and a termination of contract.

IIRC it was because he changed his story more than once when being questioned by the NRL integrity unit.
