Talking to a great mate of mine earlier, he works at a senior level in one of the Sydney clubs. They are preparing for suspension of the comp after this round til at least the end of next month. NRL hasn’t advised this at all but that’s the strong feeling what will happen.

So that would be at least 5 rounds lost.

That is what AFL did.

must be advice from those in the know

Play round 2 then re do the draw so we have a season where each team plays each other just once, that way there is still some flexibility if things get better or worse, either that or cancel the season.

could play everyone once and work out a draw for the remaining rounds

yeah I think that’ll happen. AFL have done similar. Playing this round was necessary, for the NRL to get paid for more games by the broadcasters but also to buy themselves some more time to work it all out. And I wouldn’t blame them for that.

Maybe once each and then play two or three magic rounds at end of season? Could be a big boost to the coffers and they’ve got plenty of time on their hands to organise things. Could try and sell them to other cities to help funds.

Weak as puss if true.

RL finally has a LEADER willing to do everything possible to keep RL operating against all odds and look after all participants.

Over to the players to have a look at the big picture, you know the 'partners in the game' BS. Time to find the RLPA hats they wore during the last collective bargaining deal and bust them out again.

Man the f**k up.

Great to see V'Landy's ahead of the curve and doing everything possible to keep the game running. Loved his press comments, the language used and the fact he gets where this game is at... f**king broke due to the piss poor mismanagement of the $$$ secured in the last TV right deal.

Keep it up Peter!

Re Warriors.

If the only issue is homesickness (assuming no infected players) i think the most important thing is running the jersey out each week.

Let them bring in players from other reserve comps, we just need to run out 17 guys with at least a skeleton of the guys there a few months ago and create a schedule where 3-4 different players go home each week to see the family.

I reckon ANY wins with that group will have the feel-good vibe of the 95 maroons

They go home and they spend four weeks in quarantine. Two in NZ and two in Oz, time not spent with family. Utterly unworkable.

Discussion amongst players and governor's in the NHL about how to structure the end of the season upon any return.

Pretty much acknowledged that any plans to return to play in May or June are "overly optimistic".

There are plenty alternative ice arenas that they can use. So no, that isn't the reason.

More likely because the US president who had been continually telling everyone it was not serious and that it was under control has no admitted that the outbreak could last until July/August - describing it as "really bad".

In fact, prior to shutting down - the two teams who would have played in empty arenas do not share venues with NBA teams.

Well travel too would be a concern but down here:

For 2 weeks. You would think FFA have spoken to health authorities before making this decision. Chances are it gets blown out by a few weeks but it would then be in line with the May 2 date AFL state leagues are working towards.

The link says 4 weeks.

Government suggesting today that limits of 500 (outdoor) and 100 (indoor) could last for 6 months.

Wasn't suggested, the PM said anything we implemented will need to be kept for 6 months, the Chief Medical Officer then backed that up!
