The St George Illawarra Dragons are pleased to announce that Ryan and Toby Couchman have agreed to contract extensions that will see them remain with the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

21 years of age, and the sky is truly the limit for these two. Posted a while back, I thought Toby would rep by his mid-twenties, Ryan not far behind. Both big bodies that you can really work with. A couple more pre-seasons under their belt and watch what they turn into.

Recruitment and Retention staff are working overtime to get signings done which is great to see. The recruitment of the new halfback and middle forward(s) will be a little longer is my guess and when they are announced there is going to be champagne bottles popping everywhere. LOL.

Speed will be my only concern to match the front runners.

Probably long odds that the twins would move on but good to see they stayed after dipping their toes in the market.

This is a great outcome. Maintains a portion of the eam that are home grown, provides role models for our juniors that shows you can make it to NRL level. creates the right chemistry to build a team around.

This is the type of effort that promotes strength through the grades. With the recruiting that we have done in the juniors and the beginning of recent success with SGB, we are starting to put together a club. We need to have the Penrith system well and truly locked in prior to the expansion of the NRL any further. With these signings its a damn good start, it has been a great R and R so far.
