Could WT Send Gibbs to ESL for 2010?

WT now have a precedent to work to with Liam Fulton's experience. Would it be worth WT exploring farming off Gibbs to ESL for a year (2010) to gain further experience? However they did it, they were able to get salary cap reduction permitted and it would seem a good idea to maybe give Gibbs the chance to increase his skill set by a season in ESL and come back to WT afterwards.

Since we are stuck with him to 2012 it would seem to be the only way to expose him to learning new skills. Lets face it- after 4/5 seasons here at WT under Teflon & co I dont think there is anything else they can / will be able to teach him.

Defensively, he is a good player but attacking skills are minimal and his brain explosion penalites remain a problem. How else can we improve him since we are stuck with him on a long term contract?

i dont think theres all that much to learn over there apart from becoming more of a grub. i was hoping he would have learnt a little from skandos display these last few weeks, being his elder and all.

it looks like he has become a little complacent with his long term contract. what he needs is a stint on the sidelines, if we have no chance of making finals,maybe the rest of the season so the point really hits home.

I agree with the numbers... ESL will only soften him up more, without sending any kind of message that softness is not the way of the front rower.

I'm not entirely sure that England would be a bad thing for him.

The only recent players to be successful in Australia that have come from England are forwards.The last time backs were any good from England was in the 80's.

I'd send him over there for a season, it couldn't make him any worse.

Stick him in NSW cup or some bush league for the rest of the year, a bit of promotion for the club at the same time.

Every single club in superleague has two props who'd walk into our side (see SL reject skando).

Though we should ship Gibbs over, it'd be cool to play a season with one prop.

I was thinking that if we could save XXX amount of dollars in farming Gibbs out for a year to gain experience in ESL, the money saved we could put towards bringing on another prop- either from feeder clubs or buy one of the bargain basement 'leftovers'. We have to find someway to get around the log jam that has been created by Gibbs being on a long term contract and underperforming. At least if this could happen we get a chance to blood someone else. Lord knows we have given Gibbs every chance and it has not got him anywhere. This may be the only way to get him out.

What we could do is sign a CEO with bollocks, someone like Longmuir, and re-work Gibbs' contract based on performance, something numbnuts Noyce didn't really understand.

Gibbs has been pretty good this year and lets face it, why would we give up a prop when we already short on them. One quality frontrower to go with KG and Gibbs could turn into a world beater, very hard to standout in a frontrow that lacks grunt
