I don't support the Macintyre system. I'd prefer a top six. But the footy this weekend has been some of the most enjoyable I've watched for a long time. Close exciting games, with huge upsets. Great stuff. Of course Dragons fans wouldn't be all that appreciative this morning.
I totally agree with you there Sheros. It's a beaut weekend of footy and great for the game. But the McIntyre system has too many outcomes for my liking.
Perhaps it's me but I like know exactly what the team is playing for before they go on the field. If they win, they advance. If they lose, they're out of the comp or are getting another bite of the cherry (depending on their position on the ladder).

I don't know about this business of waiting for other results like the Broncos will still be doing today.
A top six would be a my preference as well.

A top 5 is the best but there seems to be a demand for more teams in the semis. I would opt for a top 6 because it's a compromise.

The Saints, to me were going to be the bogey side of the finals. Being eliminated this way to a poor way to go for a top team.

As a Storm supporter the Dragons where my greatest fear in the finals - they have developed a winning culture and their was fire in their belly - the only problem was that they came up againt Gower when he was firing and they didn't nullify his kicking game.

Bad luck Dragons - but you've got a good coach and a good nucleus for next year - you'll be back.

Well that's the way the cookie crumbles. The McIntyre System is rubbish but Saints would have been gone under my prefered Final Five system anyway.

There's Premier League to support & after that it's cricket season. It's only about 150 days until the Charity Shield now...

Cheers,
Ben S.

Yes it's all a bit unbelieveable really......

I'm not going to comment on the top 8 system, for everyone knows the rules before they start.......

but the irony, considering........2 points separated the Dragons from a play off for a grand final spot and being eliminated

oh the highs and lows of just 2 misely points

Nah the McIntyre Finals system rewards good teams throughout the year.
If you finish 1st, you play 8th spot for a week off.
Finish 2nd, then you play 7th.
However saying that, you still must win your games in the finals series.
7th beating 2nd is a huge shock. At Dogs home ground too.
The AFL system doesn't reward higher placed teams. In the first week of the finals series, there is no difference between 1st and 4th.
Gould must be having KITTENS now the Queens are gonskis. He was dead set scared of them throughout the year.

A system that gets rid of the Queens in Round 1 of the finals certainly isn't all bad, is it??

Bad luck Dragons, you were the only hope to challenge Doggies or Roosters.

Your players really have a lot to answer for in letting your supporters down once again.

Maybe your guys can't handle the expectations put on them, maybe Doust should come out next year and say we've lost some talent and top eight spot is our goal. and who knows (with the pressure off) the players might actually perform up to expectations.
