No crisis I'm sure there were plenty of positives to take out of the game like there were against Souffs, Manly and Dogs games and this loss only confirms our premiership credentials.

I saw the highlights and Cowboys looked good, but dead set some of the bounces they seemed to be getting... their night for sure.

Can we say that Pearce makes a 40 point difference?

The Cows completed 38/41 sets and our forward pack was making that reversing beep sound all night. That and the fact we are not respecting posession at all.

I said to my boy it was going to be a tough night when that ball bounced for the Sims try. f**kin unbelievable.

Chook.

What went wrong is an easy question to answer, absolutely everything. Every single thing they did turned to gold and every single bounce of the ball both figuratively and literally went their way. When they dropped the ball it went backwards, when our defence muscled up and drove them back the ball just spilt nicely out the back. We could have been 18-12 after 30 minutes but for a bit of bad luck of our own.

They made 2 errors in the game and had 41 sets of 6 as opposed to our 25. We made 130 more tackles then them yet only made 2 more missed tackles and to top it all off we were on the arse end of an 8-3 penalty count with one of them coming in the last few minutes of the game. The cowboys just played extremely well and but for a fleeting moment when it could have been 18-12 we were never in the game. The Cowboys won’t play that well again all year.

I actually sat through the whole game to see how we would respond in the 2nd half and it was quite positive. The cowboys should have put 60 on with the amount of possession they had but our defence was rock solid despite the cause being lost. Robbo put it perfectly in the post match conference, they need to leave it behind them yet don’t dismiss it.

Unfortunately we now enter the origin period where we have 0 byes before an origin game and could play a near full strength bulldogs side with 6 of our players missing.

Agree with what Valheru has to say, except for the last bit where it might be the Bulldogs having more reps. That's a few sides we've played this year who have been almost perfect in completions and discipline. Given we've been the opposite to that a big loss was probably always going to happen. We will now be tested on depth with Cordner out and Guerra most likely picked for QLD. Interesting to see how we bounce back.

Excellent summation. I would just like to add what the commentators touched upon during the half time break. They just looked flat. The Pearce media circus disrupting preparations could have had something to do with it was one of their theories.

2- Roosters supporters at the ground in Townsville
1- Roosters fans who watched the game on fox/or listened to the game on radio.

That was very very very poor - depending on NSW SOO selections - Robbo has to play Mortimer in the halves if either Pearcy and or Maloney are selected(seemingly log odds )- SBW was lost at 5/8 and better suited to the forwards. Tupou had a chance for NSW SOO but i think he blew it- MK most likely the only Rooster to be picked in NSW SOO with Guerra for QLD.

How did Moga go for Newtown?

i think we will only be missing two Jenko and Guerra - Cords will be out 4 to 6 weeks

Half a point to Mini n Sheck

Couple of observations, yes ok the Cowgirls were near perfect n we tackled our arses off. But we have come up against 3 or 4 nearly perfect performances on us out of 10 games. Good teams make their own luck n their luck transpired from a lack of desperation on our part.

So unless we come out firing from now on we can kiss this season good bye as everyone is saving their best for us as Premiers.

I went to the game and it was a bleedin' awful game to sit through. The Cowboys were red hot and they ripped us apart up the middle. Punched holes in our defensive line and had us on the ropes. At 18-0 down it looked bad until Mini scored. The guys took heart out of that and started to get into the game - the disallowed try to Min was the turning point though. Had it stood, it wou8ld have been an 18-12 half time score. The Cowboys scored right after halftime and that was all she wrote.

I wound up on the plane home with the players and I can assure you it was a very quiet, and sombre group.

For mine:

3 points - RTS
2 points - Mini
1 point - Jake Friend.

p.s.

Are we going to have a 3,2,1 thread for the Tigers game?

If the media reports are true (and I'm not yet convinced) and the Bulldogs halves pairing are missing - will it even up the contest on Friday?

Say we are missing Jenko, Guerra and Cords - will that be a bigger loss to us than Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson for the Dogs?

I still reckon we struggle against that Dogs pack and their defence with our attack on the showing against the Cowboys

Hopefully T-Rex and Tolman get picked for the Dogs too

I don’t think Tupou blew his chance at origin, he is a winger, it’s not his fault the forwards were dominated.

The best case scenario this week is that we are missing Jennings, Tupou, Guerra and Cordner (I realise he is injured but he would have been in origin) and they are missing Morris, T-Rex, Reynolds and Hodkinson. To me that is pretty even, the worst case is that we are missing Pearce and Maloney as well and they aren’t missing their halves which is unlikely at this point.
