Creativity and Mental Illness

I've been around musos and other creative folks for a large portion of my life. My observations:
1) Most musos I know do perform better with a couple of beers to take the edge off and lower the inhibitions.
2) some do come up with better song ideas when stoned, some write ponderous, boring claptrap when in the same state.
3) Every musician I know who has gone onto something harder than marijuana/mild hallucinogens has had their music suffer horribly.

That's interesting.

Do you think that a person with average ability (in terms of writin music) would write better music if under the infleunce of some sort of drug?

That person would try writing from a different perspective.
