Fox have got the rights as well as 9 for the next 2 UK Ashes series.

First time Fox would have the rights since the 2013 ashes series if my memory serves me correct.

At least then GEM wont be getting a run for a while.
Correct.

Fox last shared broadcasting rights for the Ashes tour in 2013.

Since then, Ch9 had exclusive broadcasting rights in Australia for the following 3 Ashes tours (2015, 2019, 2023).

100% agree with you.

Robelinda2 was the cricketing Bible on the internet, including tonnes of rare footage from matches Ch9 no longer has in their video archives (e.g. 1991 Australian tour of the West Indies).

Thankfully, I downloaded some of the clips from Rob's YouTube channel before it got terminated.

Had a sinking feeling it was going to be taken down once this random YouTuber in India out of nowhere started filing copyright strikes against him.

P.S Yes, I remember that 2004 Australia vs Sri Lanka test in Darwin. Rob had a clip of controversy right in the opening overs on day 1 of that test match, where Justin Langer nicked a ball from Chaminda Vaas to slip (Jayawardene, IIRC), and the umpires immediately gave it not out, claiming the ball just bounced before the slip fielder claimed the catch.

He was great, probably collect virtually every VHS in the 1990s of test series, ODI series, classic One Dayers, I remember they showed the classic ones on video. For example back in 1996, they released a lot, from the Aus/NZ matches in the early 80s to the Australia A series. My cousin showed me one not long ago when they had Australia Vs England 1991 at the SCG. Some of the game were released on DVD but not as good as the ODI classics on VHS. I remember Steve Waugh would narrate on one video. It was probably similar to the Winfield Cup Moments on VHS if you recall them released before Winfield ended their sponsorship with Rugby League.

I happened to be at the Cairns game in that Sri Lankan series but the Darwin test was quite interesting. Quite close.

Although a lot of the old series moments are on Cricket Australia, theyre basically a highlights package whereas Rob showed more detail as if you were watching it live.

He was real respected by many, not just the regular fans but also legends of the game, I'm sure the late Shane Warne was a fan of him

Ah, you went to that Cairns match? That was the test where Sri Lanka just hung on for a draw.

I remember Rob had a clip of Warne bowling Sangakkara late on day 5, and it was hilarious to hear Mark Taylor in commentary segue to The Price is Right shortly after the wicket was taken (albeit this was during the the Mega Showcase era, with the major prize being an apartment in Surfers Paradise), so unfortunately missed out watching the final hour of the test match.

Yes it was an amazing experience that Cairns test match the first time I went to North Queensland and then a week later I saw the Eels play the Cowboys at Dairy Farmers, great atmosphere but pity about the result.

Actually I didnt go on Day 5 but what actually happened was quite interesting we watched the test on WIN or NBN local television, they said they were going to a different program and then we found out that Sri Lanka were 8 down. Suddenly after a commercial break they went straight to the cricket, so someone from the local network ignored the requests at head office haha and rightly so. Warne equaled the world record and it was a draw. I'm glad 9 dont do cricket for that reason and going to the news.

Just on that test it was great going to the 3 days, we saw a great partnership with Hayden and Langer, McGrath bowling well, Ponting I think was injured in the test but still played, that injury mustve kept him out of the Indian series not long after.

The funny thing I was listening to ABC on the pocket radio, before digital radio was around, and Kerry O'Keefe said a joke and did his laugh, then the whole bay burst out laughing as they were listening to ABC too haha. It got Simon Katich's attention as he was fielding on the boundary wondering what we're all laughing about. We also went to the bar at the end of the ground, saw Jimmy Maher and Ian Healy (during his commentary break). Great memory.

I hope they bring back the top end series.
