Understand the fringe players perhaps, but the established players earn a fortune

Guys like Rabada has sponsors galore, plus he has played in the IPL for a few years now and made a ton of money. His wealth is 5M.

Some are choosing $$$ over loyalty to their motherland.

Imagine if some of our top test players chose the IPL over a test series?

There's a MASSIVE gap between a guy like Rabada and even a guy like Nortje though.

Besides the Jaarpies problems run much deeper than money. You only have to look at the number of players who would prefer Kolpak deals in England over repping SA to see that tbh

Pat Cummins early declaration late on Day 4 of the 3rd test against Pakistan will result in Pakistan winning the Test series 1-0. That is my prediction. Why not set Pakistan a run chase closer to 400?

Well my reversed psychology worked. A good sporting declaration by Cummins made the result go Australia's way. Great win.

Pretty sure they changed the mankad law so the Indians don't cry.
Part of it was that the Mankad petitioned the ICC on threat of further legal action, that it no longer be referred to as a Mankad in any literature or commentary, as it was disparaging the Mankad name.
Did my umpiring course in 2018, so it’s not bring officially called a Mankad for that long.

Ellen Falls on his (pork) sword:

Joe Root is stepping down as England’s Test captain, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Friday.

Root’s decision comes after the 1-0 Test series defeat to West Indies last month, and the 4-0 Ashes loss to Australia.

In fact it was the fourth straight series loss, including a 1-0 series loss to New Zealand in England and and 3-1 loss to India in India have also taken its toll.

England and India also played in England in August-September last year but the final Test was postponed until July 2022 due to a Covid outbreak. India led the series 2-1.

“After returning from the Caribbean tour and having time to reflect, I have decided to step down as England men’s Test captain,” Root said.

“It has been the most challenging decision I have had to make in my career but having discussed this with my family and those closest to me, I know the timing is right.

“I am immensely proud to have captained my country and will look back on the past five years with enormous pride. It has been an honour to have done the job and to have been a custodian of what is the pinnacle of English cricket.”
Root, 31, holds the record for the highest number of wins as England’s Test captain, his 27 putting him one ahead of Michael Vaughan and three ahead of Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss.

But the past 12 months have been dismal.

After winning their opening three Tests of 2021, England have won just one since, losing 11 and drawing five of their past 17.

ECB chief executive officer Tom Harrison said: “Joe has been an exceptional role model during his tenure, balancing the demands of Test captaincy while continuing to shine brilliantly through his own personal performances.

“He has led by example, and that has resulted in more Test wins than any other England captain, alongside a number of famous series home and away victories.”

the poms are good at blaming the skipper when everything turns to shit, I mean without him they would have been worse

so now they are a shitty team with no experienced bowlers, shit batsmen, and no skipper and somehow they think they are now better off

With the Stokes cameos Root’s run scoring has carried them, he seems ground down by it which is understandable

it’s the management that seems worse imo, he’s not a great captain, but serviceable, who else can it be? I don’t see Stokes as an improvement and he misses too many games, aside from Root and Stokes nobody else seems guaranteed to be selected (which goes to the bullshit management and selections)

Right call I think. One win from 17 tests, they had to change something, and it's not like they can just obtain better players out of thin air. Perhaps a change in thinking/tactics might be able to squeeze a little extra out of a very ordinary squad.

I think Stokes or Bairstow could provide a more aggressive approach. Broad would be hilarious, I hope they go with him.

I remember when Rob Key first toured Australia he looked a good prospect. In one game he got out cheaply and left the ground carrying his bat near the toe.

Our mate Chappelli nearly had a fit, he spent the rest of the session telling us how unprofessional it was and how a real batsman would never carry his bat like that. As captain he would have torn shreds off him. No lie, Chappell went on for about half an hour about how poor it was and how this bloke needed a kick up the bum.

I hope he carries his bat like a normal person or England are in a lot more trouble.

Based on how England have been going I'd say Formerly Big Robbie should walk in there carrying his bat however the f**k he likes tbh.

Can't hurt

Dhoni the finisher rescues Chennai Super Kings in last-ball thriller

Butter-fingered Chennai Super Kings dropped at least four catches, including two by their captain Ravindra Jadeja, and MS Dhoni fluffed a stumping chance, but Dhoni produced a vintage display with the bat to hand Mumbai Indians their seventh defeat in as many games this IPL.

With Super Kings needing 16 off the last four balls, Dhoni went 6,4,2,4 and aced his match-up against Jaydev Unadkat once again.

It was Dwaine Pretorius, picked in place of Chris Jordan, who set the scene for Dhoni's trademark finish by clattering 22 off 14 balls, 12 of which were scored off Jasprit Bumrah, who left Unadkat with 16 to defend off the final over.
