It's a great idea and I'll join up, but I expect to have my membership revoked fairly early. Probably 1/2 time at the first game, particulalry if Clark or Archer are reffing.

and

haha fair enough.

As with the code of conduct, you would be aware its vital to have a code of ethics such as that one.

yep the code of conduct is essential...looking back at the roosters v bulldogs a couple of years ago. the media highlighted the stuff that the bulldogs suppoters did, yet they overlooked the instigation by roosters fans who copped little. i spoke to a person who was dealing with it at the time.

so a code of conduct will hopefully ensure that behaviour of our members will be covered. it shows basically we are taking the necessary steps to make sure nothing goes on. we also want to promote that we enjoy the game of rugby league and our sharks...

so jump on board,

RCB...would be good to meet you at the canberra game. a united sharks fans front

PJ...it will be tough mate!!:)

Guys i wish you luck with what you are doing.

As said by a few this not the CSSC against the Sharks Finatics.

It is a bunch of Sharks Supporters trying to move forward for the good of the team.

We the Finatics just felt after years of what we have been building, and this being majorly for away games and our wide age range, we decided to stay seperate.

At home games we will be seperate groups, The Finatics at the Southern End, the CSSC on Beer Hill, as we have been for a few years.

At away games i see no problem in our seperate groups becoming one to increase or visiual and vocal presence.

Once again, good luck.

Great idea.

Although like others I'm a bit concerned at not being able to abuse touch judges, refs and opposition players.

And what constitutes irresponsible drinking Macca? On the piss to 5am the night before a game? As long as Macca is the standard by which we are judged I have no problem with this rule!

To the board;
Restructure your "package" so that you don't get in any trouble from Sharks or NRL over licensing rights on hats or shirts. If the club goes too big, they could commence action to recover lost royalties & use the case as an example to prevent other clubs doing the same.
I would PM a forum user by the name of Objective One for some advice, to make sure you don't get in any trouble etc.

Hey, I'm all for the code of conduct, I just wanted to make it quite clear I will struggle with those two parts.

They cant do anything mate.

We have spoken to many about the issue, it all seems to be fine. The hats and shirts have nothing to do with anythign they have any ownership over.

That's right #2. It's a good point though Reefy and one we have had many discussions on. Our logo and name does not infringe on any copyright at present.

It was certainly the most central part of discussion from all the meetings I attended. All is good.

Next phase folks - start spreading the word about the CSSC!

Won't hurt to contact OO just to be sure. I'm sure he will have some advice.
As a case in point 2 women opened up a coffee shop called thelma & louise's. That was their names! The copy right owner I think Fox sued their asses off & made them close/change their name. This was a 50k business in surry hills I think!
Copyright is f*cked up & what I can see is that every effort has been made to alleviate any probs. However, there are certain things such as intentions, purpose etc that become all subjective. Even the colours!
OO will give you the good oil & perhaps a few of the younger crew here studying law.

It's not a problem Reefy. You are right to be concerned about it , but it's been dealt with in meetings and minuted and there is enough "expert" advice on the board and that has been saught in that regard.

At the end of the day, the CSSC is a supporters club, a non profit organisation which has an agenda that purely and simply is geared towards drawing together members with a common interest in order to foster and harness support for that common interest.

If the club and sport that benefits from that clubs support has a problem with it or any aspects of the clubs nature, then it really would only be detrimental to said club or sport .

Having said all that, there is nothing that the CSSC does or uses for it's logo or image that anyone else has any right or claim to and it's all been registered and incorporated officially.

It's shame though mate that your concerns are very valid in this day and age and have to be considered when setting up a club with the best of intentions.

Boys,

The CSSC has approached many people in the legal profession, and others whom know lots about trademarks etc. Including trademark lawyers at my work.

Heres some advice, jump on board, get your membership, and enjoy 2006 with fellow fans, cause i can guarantee you will have a ball.

Now come on guys, fire up!
