Well said, DS.

Unfortunately, I think the children running our club will get their way and get rid of Ando... They are a joke. As we will be next year.

Next year couldn't possibly be any more of joke than 2003 was with Ando. Terrible year.

Agreed, but I truly thought next year would have been smashing with him as coach.

Oh well...

Smashing! Smashing!!! WTF does that mean?

That Cronulla will become more of a wreck after cyclone Ando has gone?
That the club would be officialy declared an accident scene? A disaster perhaps?
Smashing alright.

heres the latest snippet - from yahoo.com.au

The future of Cronulla coach Chris Anderson is likely to be decided on Monday night at a meeting of the Sharks board.

Cronulla chairman Barry Pierce said he would like the season-long drama to be resolved at the meeting.

"I can't speculate on that (if there will be a resolution), but I would like there to be," Pierce said.

He also denied a newspaper report claiming Anderson failed to front Thursday night's board meeting because Anderson went to get his heart checked.

"There never was a board meeting ... I knew well in advance that day that Chris wasn't going to be there," he said.

"It wasn't like everyone was sitting in the boardroom waiting."

Anderson has just returned from the Kangaroo tour, where he coached Australia to a 3-0 series clean sweep over Great Britain.

He got his third warning from the club just before he left for a dispute surrounding the termination of his son Jarrad's contract.

Anderson will face his moment of truth at the board meeting beginning at 6pm AEDT on Monday.

As much as I'm fed up with the pettiness of both sides of this fued. I would like to see Anderson given next year to see if he can deliver, with a better player roster. And that means a top four finish, not sneaking into the 8.

If he doesn't deliver, then we can finally admit that Anderson's tenure was an abject failure. We save money and turmoil, on protracted legal proceedings, and get on with becoming a sucessful team.

Question -
lets say that Anderson and board come to an agreement, and Anderson is retained as coach for 2004.

What happens if Anderson makes a decision during the season the board does not agree with. Are we going to have a 4th warning given to the coach, are we going to have more pathetic inhouse fighting, are the board going to support Anderson's decisions?

I would like to see Anderson kept for 2004, but are we going to have ongoing dramas?

It's fairly obvious one side has to go. Personally, I'd go for the side with the work ethic, foresight, an organised plan for 2004 and a history of success...

Foresight?

"Hey let's sack Dean Triester and leave the club without it's heart and soul for the rest of the year!"

"Let's let all the quality outside backs go to England and then replace them with kids and untalented relatives of mine!"

"Let's sign this kid, Don Tweddle!"

Yep. Ando's foresight is obvious to all."

It's quite simple..the players WANT Anderson to continue coaching.

We had a poor season this season because of poor recruiting.

We have rectified the situation this season considerably.

Anderson was given 3 year contract of 'FREE REIGN' he has only completed 2 years.

The board want to sack him over petty ego damage.

We don't want any more drama during the offseason.

LET HIM FINISH WHAT HE SET OUT TO DO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with most of your sentiments D_S but I would query one thing :)

If the recruitment was so poor, why is it that only 3 of those new recruits haven't been retained by the club? Anderson, Milford and Tweddle are the only new blokes the club hasn't kept. We've only lost 6 players (of dubious first grade quality) overall, the other 3 being Mullane, Youngquest and Paterson. I suppose you can throw in NG and DT but they were hardly new recruits.

Everyone else Ando brought to the club has been retained, by the club, with the addition of the 2004 buys.

Rome was not built in a day - neither are premiership winning rugby league teams.
