I'd travel down for a game if they played it at the Adelaide Oval.

edit: Just watched the video, even if it was a minnow nation at Hindmarsh it'd be good for the game.

meh. It's plausible but:

(a) it's not going to make a world of difference to league in SA
(b) any boost to league in Australia is probably detrimental to international league overall

(c) playing PNG/Tonga/Samoa/Cooks/Fiji games in those countries would be so, so, so much more beneficial to efforts on the ground, which has a direct flow on effect to strengthening international rugby league AND would probably mean more islanders in the NRL which would strengthen league's image in Australia anyway.

Yes, a few dollars could be earnt playing in SA, but what are those dollars for? Funding development and games to be played in the islands....

( PS. With their heritage links perhaps they could host the German RL team as a curtain raiser to the main game !)
What makes you think Germany will come even close to qualifying???

While I think the more bidding cities we have the better, I also agree with Μiguel, will there be much benefit for the game in SA as a result? Or will it be like the circus that rolls into town and is forgotten the very next day?..

SARL should put together a strong development plan showing exactly what they will do to capitilise on having the spotlight of a WC match... That is key, the medium to long-term impact...

Mmmm... didn't say Germany would be playing in the RLWC 2017. It was intended as an idea for an invitational exhibition game. It was a a bit of a throw away line.

Agree mostly with your other comments especially the last paragraph.

Only problem i have with a game being played on the islands is the extra costs for potential fans.

Oh, I see... Yeah like a curtain-raiser or something...

I would maybe have one or two in PNG, but not any in the Pacific. I think if NZ ever put in a sole bid (which apparently they have wanted to for a while now) then that would be the perfect time to play a few of the more minor matches over in the Pacific...
