Nrl average = 17026

By Round 5 in 2005 the NRL average was 17,717 per game

By Round 6 in 2005 the NRL average was 17,640 per game

To be on par with Round 6 in 2005 this weekend would need to draw 165,700

To even come close to getting that -

Rabbitohs v Bulldogs - would need at least 40k
Tigers v Broncos - at least 20k
Sharks v Dragons - sell out, around 19-20k
Knights v Eels - close to capacity, around 28k
Cowboys v Storm - hopefully at least 16k
Sea Eagles v Panthers - hopefully at least 16k
Raiders v Warriors - guessing around 13k
Titans v Roosters - well not much hope atm but guessing it would be around 12k

Now if that were to happen all these concerns about aggregates would also be addressed.

Hoping our game at DFS draws a decent crowd, we always get a couple in for Melbourne games and there won't be anything else on Easter Sunday. Fingers crossed we can nose up towards 20k

And it helps that there are only 2 stadiums used and they are in a central location right next to public transport.

In Sydney we have 20243329 stadiums all over town. Wherever you are in Melbourne getting to the MCG or Docklands is a train ride away. That's far from the case here in Sydney.

Here's what on at Newcastle on Sunday -

This Easter Sunday, the Newcastle Knights will commemorate their 25-year history when they do battle with their maiden opponent. The Club will celebrate the game with a number of activities including:

  • All children will be invited to bring a footy to have a kick on Hunter Stadium after the NRL match. This is a rare opportunity to set foot on the same hallowed turf where their Knights heroes have gone into battle over the past 25 years
  • A motorcade of the inaugural Hall of Fame inductees Paul Harragon, Michael Hagan, Andrew Johns and Matthew Gidley (unfortunately Glenice McMahon is unable to attend to represent her late husband the great Allan McMahon)
  • Stirring videos tracing the 25-year history of the Knights and highlights of the inaugural Hall of Fame Dinner from Wednesday night
  • Half time tug-of-war between Knights and Eels supporters
  • Handout of 12,000 ‘GO KNIGHTS’ banners
  • Easter egg giveaway

So that means 10k tickets have been sold on top of all the members that will show up. So say 15k Souths members and 10k Dogs members, and hopefully a few k walkups from the show and you got your 40k+.

Yeah,this was my thinking too.

I'm under the impression that both sets of members get in for free.

If the Pax does not include the member then we should get 35k to the game.

Well if all members attend that is.

Are you equating members with season ticket holders? Why would you assume that the presale are all non-members?

edit: didn't know members got in free, fair enough then

Not sure how the PAX works in this case but if that is the situation, yeh, a good crowd could be possible.
I'm a league fan. I want to see the largest possible crowd to every game.
I hope you get the 40, but I'm thinking maybe high 20's / early 30's.
