16k in Melbourne.
More than 6 K tomorrow night will put this round in the top 20 all time rounds
Titans crowds are telling. I think they have yet to bottom out. Sub 10k's on the way.
There is no way this round could be top 6 of all time.
In 95 the warriors, broncos, cowboys, crushers and reds all averaged above 20k, surely the 6 best would have come from there.
Don't kid yourselves. The Gold Coast and Northern NSW is rugby league territory first and foremost.
The Titans need to get out there selling 4 game and 12 game memberships with public transport options, not just on the Gold Goast but everywhere from Logan down to Coffs Harbour. Pricing is the biggest concern. They're also competing against the Suns that have the advantage of having an AFL biased Stadiums QLD board member and part stadium ownership. Seems to me the Titans have got 4 options -
1) Put collective pressure on Stadiums QLD and the government to drop their rent charges in order to reduce tickets and memberships prices. Either by getting a friendly board member, making it a public media outcry and threatening to go to an independent stadium.
2) Ask a rich benefactor to act as a debt coverage provider (similar to Tinkler) so they can reduce the prices and hope that the increased overall numbers offset any losses from the price reduction
3) Similarly ask the NRL for a grant/debt coverage provision
4) Take a gamble and reduce the price themselves without the coverage protection
Looks good in Melbourne. The western upper deck is open but there only looks to be a few hundred people sitting up there. Are those seats usually open to the public or is it members only?
Crowd at Allianz exceeded my 11k prediction but is still disappointing for a sunday arvo game. By my estimation there where less than 1000 penrith fans around the ground.
Last night my impression at the ground was over 30k, but guess the reported crowd must be correct
