Only tourists go in the surf after lunch.

The locals would be well out of the water before the sea-breezes hit.

I grew up in SEQLD and this was my experience as well. Really early in the season i understand that the heat was a very big factor but complaining that people want to go to the beach instead just feels like a copout.

Even in comps like the English premier league you have teams averaging 65k to 75k and battler teams who average between 18k and 25k. Happens even in the biggest comps

That's true.
Collingwood -Essendon got 93 000 at the MCG on Thursday, while yesterday, LOL @ GWS got 6000.:lol:

I have a theory on GCT crowds, their numbers are going down because they are all getting lost in the swamp next door.

There's one bay across from where the cameras are, just left of the 50m line. So arguably among the best seats in the stadium and it wouldn't be 25% full.

The last couple of seasons they blamed shit form for their decline in crowds but they've gotten to a good start this season, perfect weather, and they cannot get 10k.

Their Saturday game didn't bring in a much better crowd anyway. I do agree though that if sundays don't suit the club they should probably try and give them to one of the many other teams that would love one.

Their Saturday game was at the ridiculous time of 4:30pm. In the first 20 rounds they have ONE match in their preferred time slot of 7:30 Saturday. The rest are all on Sunday afternoons. Stupid scheduling is going to cost them a number of low crowds.

No, the blame has rested on the ridiculously overpriced tickets.

There is no need for you to put down league as a way of deflecting the fudging of deplorable crowds in your beloved afl.

I'm of the opinion crowds on the GC are inflated in both the NRL and AFL.

I suspect they're doing the NBA thing. The announced attendance is whoever turns up + season ticket holders who didn't.

Be interested to see what they announce.

I think the colour of the seating stands out really strongly on telecast, so this may distort peoples perception of the crowd.

I still say 12k but would bracket it between 11k and 13k

I'd say the fact that everyone sits on the non sun non camera side is what distorts peoples perception of the crowd.

Apparently the crowd at Bluetongue is a shocker.

Source?

Wouldn't be surprised though as the senior footy and soccer across the coast will account for a substantial number of potential attendees.

$45 for a reserved seat is a bit steep as well. Normally it is $35 from memory for NRL matches there, so not sure what the sharks where thinking with the ticketing!

Quite correct about my devil may care attitude to apostrophe's. I like my language to be direct and clean. The word "irregardless" is the polar opposite to that approach. If anyone uses it, I switch off.

You like you language nice and clean? That explains this:

I'm thinking cockface mcspazzatron

I am assuming that "mcspazzatron" is a non-standard usage?

So do you like your language direct? In which case this sentence is the very paragon of directness:

If the records find that Dank supplied the players, through the club, some banned substance, surely they just say "dank was our consultant, he told it was legal and tested for human use, and we trusted him.

I'm glad. It'll be better for the long term if the Gosford crowds are crap. The NRL will stop taking them for granted and give them a team. Then they'll average 15k+ with their own team and it'll be a better long term result for the comp. Better than disrespecting the region by saying they're only good enough for the odd game that teams think aren't important enough to play in their real home grounds.
