Rather than blaming clubs for the poor crowds, remember Parra v Canberra drew 11,116 a couple of weeks ago (only 3000 more) isn't it time we looked at the real problem ie. Sat night games against live coverage on TV.

I would estimate 90% of poor crowds in Sydney are on either a Sat night or Mon night. Get rid of this time slot for Sydney clubs get them playing the majority of their games on a Sunday afternoon, at least to grow the game again in Sydney. Saturday night gives the game nothing but a poor image, remember the Bulldogs v Saints last year at ANZ that sort of image does the game no good at all.

Get back to 1 game on Fri night, 2 on Saturday and if need be 1 on Monday, but be smart who we show to maximise audience ie. in best potential weather areas.

By bringing in an extra team from either Perth/NZ or Qld this gives the game another option to show into Sydney.

Penrith Daz you have a short memory:

Penrith's last 3 home games of last year:

6,086

8,813

7,841

This in supposed RL stronghold.

Did anyone call for them to get the bullet

Also 2008 average attendance:

Cronulla - 12,965

Penrith - 10,899

If Penrith finished equal first like Cronulla our crowds wouldnt be that low.

I've never understood (I know its TV ratings, Kids playing on Saturday) why we haven't had a Saturday afternoon game in ages.

Because we do what's good for TV and not what's right for the best interests of our game.

Considering it's the there were over 70,000 across the road at the MCG, it was the Easter holiday and they were playing the Panthers which by the looks of things aren't one of the bigger drawing sides at OP i think it was pretty good they got over 10,000 tonight. I was expecting closer to 9,000.

That Cronulla crowd is downright disgusting and anyone defending it needs to have a look at themselves in the mirror.

And for the record, look at what Penrith drew to the 5:30 game last week, the timeslot can draw big crowds, just Cronulla fans couldn't care less. f**k em off.

I have to admire the Chill Tech crew that rock up rain hail or shine, but no one else seems to give a sh*t. There was no excuse not to be at that game. Of course as Zappia saya it may be the straw that breaks the camels back financial wise, if the Sharks fans know that and still don't want to show up there's only one option.

yeh their dedicated fans are great and good on them, but a team cant survive on that. as u said it might be time to punt them. i dunno but things sure look dismal.

Last year the Sharks finished equal first and only averaged 12K.
The writting is on the wall, they are gone.
If they can only average 12K in a successful year what happens in a year they struggle??
Looks like we are about to find out.
Only 1 question remains
Central Coast Sharks or Adelaide Sharks?

central coast sharks. I think the Perth/Adelaide franchises should be done properly in a few years time as its a new area. The Central Coast we already know is league, and I think they'd accept the Sharks as their own pretty quickly. I know there was issues with Northern Eagles but for some reason I think it will be different this time around. Plus Bluetongue is right on the beach, perfect to fit in with the "Sharks"

Plenty of reasons not to go to Shark Park tonight.

A struggling team playing sh!t football and without a lot of 1st Graders. Playing an out of town team that no one really rates. Middle of a long weekend.

Having said that, I drove 2 hours to get there.

I did think there was more than 8,000 there though. I've been to a lot of games there, and it looked more like 11,000 to me (still not good enough). The turnstyles broke down 10 minutes after gates opened, so maybe the count was wrong?

On a side note, if I have one more drunken dickhead spill beer on my back I will dead set punch his fuggin head in. Seriously, if you can't carry your beer back to your seat without spilling it on the person infront of you, you have had enough!!!!
