I totally agree. And if his form is good enough to play First Grade, all the better for us.

Besides - you need at least one new face in the squad every year imo to keep things fresh.

yer i guess he would possibly take Ian position but would play a very different role. A wide running backrower at his best, I don't know if he would actually fit into our team. It gives us dept, the only certainty in our pack and bench would probably be:

8 Cayless
9 Riddell
10 Fui
11 Hindy
12
13

14 Marsh
15 Cordoba
16
17

Hauraki, Paulo, Robenson, Wagon, Mateo and Galavou would fight for the other positions. Mateo, Wagon and Robenson are certainties to be in the 17, so the other 3 are relay fighting for a spot imo. As seen this year Hauraki, Paulo and Cannings played this year (as well as Lowrie) because of injury. Hindy and possibly mateo will play origin so around that time of year he would be good.

He wouldn't make my starting 17 off the bat, to be honest.

However, if after a few weeks in Premier League his form is good enough, I see no harm in him playing First Grade.

Apparently, his biggest issue is his attitude - and as someone pointed out, apparently Mateo had an attitude problem, too. Now look at him.

seeing as it seems it would be a second tier contract and souths would be topping it up ofr him i don't see ho we can really lose. he has a few points to prove and we are getting him on the cheap and not effecting our salary cap too much. if it doesn't work out we let him go at the end of the season.

The guy sucks and I doubt he will add any value. But it sounds like he'll be cheap so if it doesn't affect retention of any other players, it couldn't hurt to sign him for depth

will be a great buy as long as he gets over his injury, and spends more time on the paddock than off.A bargain buy, mobile, experienced with a grand final under his belt, cant go too wrong if healthy.

He could be a great buy, especially on the kind of deal the article seems to imply we would be giving him. We have a history of turning players with supposed attitude and fitness issues around. Look at guys like Solo, Widders, Fui and Mateo...all of whom were supposedly not fit enough or committed enough (or both) for first grade, but all of whom starred or are starring at Parramatta. Plus, on the money he is on, even if he doesn't play much first grade I think his advice and experience will be invaluable for young guys like Feleti, Weller, and Tony Williams who are all wide running backrowers with good ball skills. Galavao is a similar type of player with a grand final and several internationals under his belt...

let's face it, we wouldn't have too much to lose with this bloke and we saw what the worst player in SL can do under our structure so you never know ;-)

He has the potential to make the 17. I have watched many of Joe's games when he played for the Panthers. He was a star in a first rate pack. I think Joe will go great guns.
