Girdler scored this one, but I remember the try you're talking about. NSW spread it on the 3rd tackle of the game and went right through iirc.

Actually I think girdler made the made the break and maybe Robbie Ross backed it up to score?

Certainly not the quickest try, but quickest try to commence play might be Alan McIndoe?

1991 Illawarra vs Gold Coast, 2nd half kickoff, Steelers already leading big, they kick off short to McIndoe, who simply catches the ball and runs straight down the sideline, past 2 feeble tackle attempts to score.

The "Datsun 180B" in a car prang?

"Shearer was critically injured in a car crash at Peregian Springs on 21 February 2009.[6] The crash came one year after the death from cancer of his wife Delyse.[7] Shearer has since remarried with his second wife, Kim Stevens. In 2010 Shearer faced bankruptcy when ordered to repay approximately $1.5m to former State of Origin teammate Adrian Lam for an outstanding loan which dated back to 2005.[8]"

It was only Shearer's fitness that saved him after the accident according to his mates. He made the Hayne plane look like a paper glider when it came to Origin performances, about the same lackadaisical attitude when playing for Manly as Jarryd had with the Eels though.

I remember seeing a try in the under 20s a few years back that came off the goal posts from the kickoff and the team kicking off regathered and scored.

2000 - Panthers vs Sharks in the last round of the regular season.

Steve Carter scored a try from a kick-off. Peter Jorgensen caught the ball from the kick-off, then was passed to the left through a few sets of hands before Girdler makes the break along the left sideline. He then passes to Robbie Beckett in support before he passes to Steve Carter for a try under the posts!

Does any one else remember 1998 or 99 Penrith vs Parramatta at Penrith pissing down. They let a f**kload of white balloons of before the game they all fell on the ground before kick off. Penrith kicked off into the balloons, eels players couldn't find the ball Girlder picked it up and scored.

Don't remember it but that is so rugby league.

I remember Andrew Farrer scoring after 30 seconds or so against Souffs in the mid 80's...SCG I think.

there's only ever one kick-off per game..

and it happens at the same point in each match..

Nrl rules Section 8:
The kick off is a place kick from the centre of the halfway line. The captains of the two teams shall toss a coin in the presence of the referee. The captain winning the toss shall decide to either kick off or choose which end of the field his team will defend. The losing captain shall take the other of the two alternatives.
When points have been scored, the team against which the points have been scored shall kick off to re-start the game. The loose head and put-in goes to the kicking side when finding touch other than on the full. It should be noted that the law applies to goal line and 20 metre starts as well.

So methinks ya wrong. There is always at least 2.

Yep ,that's why I posted about the Cowboys game .
I thought every re start after a try ,or PG ,or the start of GP was a kickoff.

I'd classify anything other than the start of the match as a kick restart..
