Personal insults are you have. Are you 10? You can't actually debate the issue.

We have two rookie halves. One is stitched up to a long term deal to us and the other to another club. Both are not doing much on the field atm. We are relying on ball playing 2nd rowers and test centres to score tries.

Did you read the thread where I actually want him dropped?

Typical reply.. as expected. Foran is leagues above Hodkinson in both attack and defence. Foran is involved in almost every point scoring play where hodkinson is a passenger (not even averaging 1 try assist).

Foran also has a much better kicking game lately and is at least keeping the opposition guessing. It's fine that you have your OWN oppinion based on who you think is worth more and i understand that, just dont go around ignoring the facts and statistics.

Oh and just for you.. go look up the difference between the 2 players in:

1. Line break assists
2. Try assists
3. Tackles
4. Hitups
5. Touches of the ball

I was watching league long before you were even a squirm in your daddy's pants. So don't start telling me what you claim are facts and statistics which are only your own opinion.

Yes I have an opinion. They are both out of form and playing poorly. Foran hasn't been keeping anybody guessing lately and has not had a try assist in months. As for his kicks, Hokko is 3rd in best long kicks.

Why would you compare Hitups for a 5/8 and a halfback?
Hokko would be ahead on tackles. He made 10 more on friday night. His problem is missed tackles.

There are no stats on touch of the ball available to general public. You have no idea what you are talking about... Quoting the footy show now are we?

Foran made a few LA at start of the season, but has not had one in months. Neither has Hokko. Same with TA's.

Forans atleast created something last night, unlike the predictable inside ball to G.Stewart.

I dont care what this guy says. Foran is a much better player.. and if he cant see that on the field then its his problem. Hodkinson is a half who doesn't touch the ball.

DCE named halfback and captain for the QLD residents side, Buhrer and Lussick also in the team, not bad.

Ok, so based on that, what is Foran's new contract worth? He is young and inexperienced. What happens if he doesn't kick on over the next 4 years?

No dramas, I'll explain my thoughts on the subject in full.

If Keiran Foran doesn't kick on, well that gamble hasn't paid off. I stand by the comment I made as it is fitting for both players.

However if I were forced to gamble on either Trent Hodkinson or Keiran Foran (which it seems Manly has had to do), I'd be putting my valuable cash on the latter. From my perspective Keiran appears to set up more of our attacking options than Trent and considering he is not the halfback , well that provides me with more confidence in him and his style of play going forward as a club. On a side note, we couldn't afford to lose both of them and we couldn't afford to pay over the odds for both young players either.

Now on Trent, for a halfback, Trent Hodkinson at this stage of his career isn't controlling the game (seriously though I didn't expect him to). Trent burst on the scene, but basically won the City Origin spot by default (not his fault), and now his game has been analysed by opposition coaches and the first year debutant is trying to adjust on the run mid season. Trent Hodkinson will probably need an off season to settle down, understand his game at this level and ultimately find his feet. Following that he'll probably require another off season to make a statement about who he really is as a Rugby League halfback... by then he'll reach 50 or so games and start to become an established first grader in the most difficult of rugby league positions.... That is why Trent is the bigger gamble. It's not easy to make the grade as a half back.

Keiran isn't a halfback but many BETTER JUDGES than you or I believe in his ability as a five eighth (ie 2nd option playmaker), some of these judges represent our club, others represent the New Zealand RL brains trust as he has been selected at test level. I'll back that judgement, along with my own idea's and knowledge of what it takes to make it at the elite level... and support the signing of Keiran over Trent for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. It is sad because I believed that their games could grow together in that they complimented each other, but that is yesterdays rubbish today.

Finally to answer the first part of your question. Mate I seriously do not know what Keiran's latest contract is worth... and since the Melbourne Storm secret cupboard has been located, I don't think we can truly appreciate what anyone in our great game is actually getting paid.

Good Talk.

Call me crazy, but I see Foran evolving into a hooker. Great running game, good defence, good passing. I've seen all his FG games and I worry he lacks the lateral vision to play well in the halves. Bit like Barrett. Really good tough quick player tough.

Saw DCE play in that Q-cup City v Country. He's ok, but needs to toughen up a bit in defence before Des will even think about picking him.
