Dane Nielson signs with Dragons

Keep an eye on Euan Aitken, a player with a future. Runciman was a fullback with Dubbo CYMS before he signed with the Dragons. We will get it right in a couple of years.
Let the Dragons get the forwards on the improve.That is the priority!!!

Plenty of harsh judgement on Beale.
I thought he performed well for us, AT CENTRE. Certainly at least as well as we can expect from Nielsen. Was a dud at fullback, but we already knew that.
I think it comes down to a value for money decision at present.
I get the increasing feeling it's a case of treading water for 2015 with a view to try and recover some ground from 2016 onwards. At least I hope so.

Yes I think the Club is ridding itself of ineffective overpriced players and replacing them with cheap players (with potential) on one year deals. We will have a large number of playes coming off contract at the end of 2015. So I see this has an exercise in clearing the decks for 2016.

If we can off-load Beale and Farrell for Nielson we have saved a good sum of cash and at the same time created some room for oour young up and coming centres to show their skills in 2015.

I think Peter Mulholland is doing a good job so far ? replacing dead wood with one year cheapies is really the only way forward for the Dragons right now.

Of course, this does not excuse Doust and the Board for the mess they have made of our Club. These people should be held accountable for their incompetence.

Heres my views, after having Nielson here for the last two seasons
- He came over with fairly big wraps, played SOO, coming from a successful Storm team
take him away from the comfort of the bigger players ala Smith, Cronk, Slater, Hoffman and away from Belamy, we got sold a melon.

Quite literally, if you have any juniors in the centres who will cut it in FG, chuck them in there before Nielson.

I HOPE for the Warriors sakes, that you have signed him. We won't miss him, for one reason or another it just hasn't worked here.

As I've said before, I hope he comes good for you lot but I just can't see it happening

He has experience, which is what we are lacking in the centre/wing position. Imagine a left sided combo of runciman and Nabuli in defence?
Nielsen can't be that bad, he played for qld not long ago.

Pretty awesome backline. Farrell only non-rep player. I would be pretty confident if Saints ran out with that backline of scoring points.

We need him for defence, not too fussed about his try scoring ability. Remember how he shut barba down in the 2012 gf? In terms of attack, If he can draw and pass, good enough.

Wouldn't surprise if we have players targeted for 2016 already.
Clearly 2015 is another transition season.

Yep agree, Dane Neilson is CRAP!!. He is Slow, cant create anything on attack and even his defence is dodgy. The Warriors are very happy to let this guy leave, which is saying a lot. Solomona Kata is better then him and he is only just out the 20s. Dragons are f**kED in 2015!

A Mosae, Packer or FPN type forward is all that is missing for a squad that should be a chance of a bottom 8 finish.

I'm not against that signing.Good player gone sour overseas. Mind you, contrary to many on this forum, I thought Beale was solid all year.

They are just cleaning the decks and signing cheap, experienced players on one and two year deals. It's a big clean out and they are trying to make up the contracted list cheaply wherever possible.

Next year will be poor but experience will help them through. The guys like Aitken will get their opportunities but it's probably one year too early in many cases.

It's now about 2016 and I do trust our new recruitment officer. Finally we have someone good with no club ties. It sucks but I can actually see what they are doing. We shouldn't be where we are but guess what? We are.
