The Telegraph is dead-set trying to manufacture a crisis.

Good response from Anderson.

The run home for the Eels is pretty good, but it's important that we get some wins over the Warriors and Cowboys in the next two weeks to build some confidence and momentum.

The week after that, we hit the Panthers, who are flying high with those attributes. The Bunnies showed that the Panthers are quite beatable if you hit them on the right day and with enough energy and enthusiasm of your own. I think the Eels' defence could frustrate them, but then again Penrith have a way of scoring tries that you really can't defend against.

It's important to beat some of the teams ahead of us in order to climbt he ladder.

Following the Panthers are Bulldogs, Roosters, Titans, Broncos, Tigers, Rabbitohs and then finally the Warriors again.

The tide can be turned (but it needs to be done soon). If it does, then these sort of rubbish stories will go away ... they can go back to hyping us, which can be equally destructive.

hey should stop being first receiver and what not and just get back to his supporting play off the forwards.. maybe get involved with some more kick chase too

This is the way i look at it. Anderson is right in saying hayne is better being a second reciever as he is to well marked to be the first. Ando doesn't want him overriding the halves but understands that when they aren't doing anything productive hayne feels a responsibility to get in there in make something happen.
Personally i think hayne is taking to much responsibility on himself and it is affecting his performances. Mind you not that his performances are bad he has been one of our better players all year and definitely our best back.
If wallace and lockyer were our halves on saturday night i think today everyone would be talking about how sensational jarryd was on sat night.
So pure and simple he needs some support from other players in key positions

Just reported on FoxSports News that Anderson, Hayne, Osborne and Beavis have met today and DA and Hayne have aired their issues. It is reported that Hayne has stated that he is feeling the pressure of being the main man at Parra and is finding it hard to back up week in and out during the SOO period.

Not sure it this is entirely accurate but doesn’t sound like the stuff of champions from Hayne. He demanded the big bucks and got them...... On the opposite side though I hardly think he is playing badly just trying to do everything himself.

I don't think Hayne is playing that bad.

At least he is getting involved and trying something, thats more than i can say for our current halves.

He will come good.

As stated this is a massive beat up from the DT. Merkins.

He is trying too hard and should not feel that he has to steer the team to a win every game. Having said that the responsibility that he is feeling comes with the fact that he earns more than double most of his team mates.

This year won't be the year of the Eel I think that is pretty likely. The Eels need a halfback, not a great one, just a decent one, one that can organise the team and take pressure off Hayne and Mortimer especially Hayne and one that brings a kicking game.

fancy them expecting him to earn his pay packet.

this is exactly why Hayne will never be captain.

Why? because he can't win every game single handed. He is currently 100% of our attack, his skill and abilities earnt him that payrise, not like our current number 7 who got there off a surname and has shown nothing to suggest he should be anything other than a squad player

Imo, Hayne looks either unfit or injured......I am thinking more like injured.

This year he has been slow to get up after every solid hit he receives. I think he has been great this year but I still think he has been playing injured for most of it.

Daniel Anderson and Jarryd Hayne on collision course

THE relationship between Parramatta coach Daniel Anderson and superstar fullback Jarryd Hayne is at breaking point.

So much so that Hayne's agent Wayne Beavis last night called for a meeting with Anderson to thrash out their differences, which are threatening to derail Parramatta's premiership campaign.

Beavis was furious after he woke up and read yesterday's The Sunday Telegraph headline "Blame Hayne" following the Eels' 10-6 to the Broncos at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday night.

Hayne was so upset he had been singled out for criticism that he stormed out of Parramatta Stadium after the game, boycotting a compulsory team function with fans at the Leagues Club.

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal that Parramatta directors have summoned Anderson to appear before the board tomorrow to explain the team's poor form and the falling-out with Hayne.

After the game Anderson told the press conference: "I think our fullback is learning. He wasn't good tonight in my opinion. Not many people will say it but he was off his game. I think he would have been frustrated at some of the decisions he made."

Obviously disappointed he had been singled out for criticism, Hayne told reporters: "We're just not jelling. It's the coach's job ... it's for him to bring us together and to work that out."

Beavis phoned Eels chief executive Paul Osborne yesterday morning after he had read the Eels match report.

"The first I knew of any issues was when I read the paper this morning, so I rang Ossie and said I need a meeting with your coach," Beavis said.

"I would have thought if the coach had a problem with him, he would have had a meeting to sort it out. Has the coach even spoken to Jarryd about it?

"These things shouldn't be publicly aired. If he's got a problem, let's get in a room and talk about it.

"That's the professional way to handle things.

"I want to sit down with Jarryd and the coach ASAP because it was poor form to do it in the press."

Parramatta insiders say that Anderson's press conference revelations on Saturday night that he was unhappy with his $500,000-a-season fullback had been common knowledge around the club for weeks.

Anderson's relationship problems with Polynesian players date back to his days as New Zealand Warriors coach.

On this occasion, many inside the Parramatta club believe he has done nothing that warrants Hayne to be overly upset. Beavis denies it but there are some in the Eels camp who have been concerned for two months that Hayne's ego is getting out of control now that he is by far the highest paid player at the club and one of the game's most high-profile players.

"Jarryd has changed a lot since last year," one insider said. "There is a genuine concern that all the publicity has got to him."

The Daily Telegraph understands Anderson has spoken to Hayne regularly about his form - or lack thereof - in recent weeks and also his failure to comply with game plans and the general attacking structure that his teammates stick to.

It's an extremely difficult and delicate issue for Parramatta to handle because of Hayne's incredible popularity among the club's army of supporters.

Osborne and Anderson know who supporters will back if it becomes a bigger issue.

The Eels chief executive last night said he was still hopeful Parramatta could recover in time to make the finals.

"Wayne Beavis did ring me this morning and I'm happy to set up a meeting to smooth things over," Osborne said.

"Maybe there have been a few communication problems but it's nothing that doesn't happen at other clubs.

"We've obviously got some issues and we've got to work our way through them. Our defence is the second best in the NRL but our attack is the second worst and it's obviously not jelling.

"We showed last year that we are in a position close enough if good enough but they've got to turn it around very soon."

Seems the media have already blown this way out of proportion but hey, Buzz gets his blog today.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

1) I agree there was not much in the press conference and Ando didn't really have a go at him

2) The Tele are certainly trying to build something up to be big, and seem to be clutching at things to use as proof of an issue (doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one tho)

3) The thing that concerned me the other day (before this article) was Jarryd's comment: "We're just not jelling. It's the coach's job ... it's for him to bring us together and to work that out." .... he seemed pretty keen to point the finger at the coach ... gelling is everyone's issue really, not just the coach.

4) At times when watching the other night I actually thought that we are not a happy camp ..... there is very little back slapping and team bonding when we do something good .... yes when we score a try the people in the immediate vicinity are happy, but I believe REAL team bonding comes from defense and players slapping eachother on the back when they make good stops in defense - and THAT is not happening .... last year through the march to the finals we came together as a defensive unit and enjoyed stopping other teams and it was visably obvious - we are still tackling well this year, but I don't see the excitment from the players this year and I think that is a sign of an unhappy camp ..... maybe a few wins would change it???? - maybe a bit of bonding would help get some wins?

Interesting point. I agree.

I do not expect him to win every game single handedly and thought the same last year when he received the six MOM in a row, some of those MOM could of went to others but Hayne was everyones favourite at the time.

The players earning the big bucks have to accept it comes with responsibilities and pressure.
Our current number 7 is still a rookie and has not even completed a full season at the top level yet, he is being paid for potential but you expect him to be a seasoned veteran and order Hayne around the park , how can he do this when he is being over called all the time?

Im really fed up with all this blame on Hayne cause the team's not doing too well. Just a typical media beat up. And Im sure there was nothing in it.

Our halves are terrible and the hooker rotation with Jeff Robson is terrible. I mean Hayne's not Andrew Friggin Johns and Darren Lockyer. Hayne is always our go to man when we're attacking our line and thats a big proble,, might as well put him at halfback cause lets face it then the halves dont wanna do much except give the ball to Hayne.

Change the whole game plan.

Of course....

Hayne's crisis meeting is off, says agent
June 28, 2010 - 12:49PM

Jarryd Hayne's manager has cancelled a request for a crisis meeting with Parramatta NRL club management over his star client after receiving assurances there's no on-going problem.

Player manager Wayne Beavis was initially upset at comments made by Eels coach Daniel Anderson who singled out 2009 Dally M Medal winner Hayne's form for criticism after Saturday night's loss to Brisbane.

The player manager rang club chief executive Paul Osborne to request a meeting for he and Hayne to sit down and discuss any issues with the coach.

However, after speaking to Anderson and Osborne, Beavis said he won't take the matter further.

"They're telling me there's no problem so that's it, unless Jarryd specifically advises me to the contrary I won't be doing another thing," Beavis said.

"I was a bit taken a back by the content of the Sunday Telegraph on Sunday, I rang the club I spoke to the chief executive, did the right thing, and said if there is an issue let's sit down and discuss it in a commercial and professional manner.

"I'm since assured after talking to both the chief executive and the coach that there is no issue so that's the end of the story for mine."

Speaking at the post-match press conference and with the Eels season alarmingly slipping away, Anderson expressed his disappointment at Hayne's form.

"I think our fullback is learning," Anderson said.

"He wasn't good tonight in my opinion. Not many people will say it, but he was off his game. I think he would've been frustrated at some of the decisions he made.

"Play more percentages when your form is not quite there and when other teams are aware of your abilities.

"Work hard for your team-mates and things will come for you.

"Maybe he's trying too hard as well: that's probably a key."

Beavis said he doesn't agree with Anderson's opinion, but after being assured there was no deeper problem, he was happy to let the issue rest.

"I think it's something probably he said at the press conference which he's probably entitled to say, and whilst I don't wholeheartedly agree with the comment it's a matter for him and I certainly don't get involved in the club politics with coaching and players," he said.

"But at the end of the day my charter is to defend the best interests of the player and that's what I intend to do.

"If there was an issue we would be having a discussion but at this stage I don't see the need for any.

"That's all a storm in a teacup, there's no crisis meeting."
