Danny Galea

Is this bloke still unsigned? I can't believe we haven't made him an offer. He's a strong defender and once he hits them, they stay hit. Sure, he might not offer much in attack, but in a fairly weak defensive outfit, his tackling is a real asset, I think our D has gone up a notch since he's been starting in the back row with Ellis.

Hmmmm.

Galea IMO is too small for the back row (and certainly prop!!) He plays a good old school sweeper style of lock.

I think if we have Fult's coming back next year then Galea shouldn't see much game time.

I would swap him for someone bigger in a heart beat,

How can you compare him to Fulton.

Galea makes dominant tackles. Fulton gets dominated in tackles. That's the difference. Galea doesn't get dominated in tackles like Fulton. Forget Fulton's ball skills, we have enough ball players. Need some grunt up front.

Making dominant tackles gives our defence a little more time to regroup. Getting dominated in tackles gives them more time to regroup. It's pretty important.

Yeah, I've revised my opinion of him, he's going well, in defence anyway. A bit more leg-drive and grunt with the pill and he'd be great.

I pretty sure he was brought from the Panthers as a centre. Might explani his size, but his defence has been good for the Tigers, and I would be really suprised if you didn't give him an offer.

The only player we have who hits harder than him is Ellis, but Ellis would hit harder than 99% of players in the NRL, so there is no real shame in it.

I'd have him in the second row and Heighington at Lock for the rest of the next season.

The Big League today has a tiny snippet about Dene Halatau confident of being resigned, and no mention of him looking at other clubs at all.

Galea needs to work on his latteral movement in defence....he lacks a little sideways movement in defence. Just a couple of more hitups will be good, and the more minutes he plays the better it is for his fitness as I've seen him suck it up a few times.

The old "latteral movement in defense" now isnt that one of Roycee favorite sayings and lets face it he is the guru of defense

I think Roycey has used that in the past, but it's not copyrighted. I don't think he has said it with Galea.

Galea is pretty much an "up and in" or "up and down" defender. He is just little valnerable with a good step. I think that is because sometimes he sets himself or launches himself to make a big tackle. I'm sure he can work on that. Just a little flaw in what is a pretty much perfect defensive technique. Just having my say.

I think we should definately re-sign Galea, mid year i would of thought let him go but his defense has been first class. Sure he doesnt offer much in attack but every team needs a guy who aint afraid to make tackle after tackle and get dirty. I mean David Stagg and Dallas Johnson are not noted for their attack but you know they will be there making 35+ tackles a game.

I see him as more of an asset as Johnson because Johnson mainly completes tackles by being 3rd man in or assisting a teammate.

When Galea tackles someone, he often gets the first hit in and hurts them. He's an enforcer to an extent, they mop up the scraps. Galea can work both roles fine.
