Anyone know when he's coming back into the starting line-up?

I haven't heard anything in a while

Maybe against Manly next week.

I'm not in a hurry to see him back. This season is pretty much over, so I'd be happy if he gets a well earned rest and doesn't rush the injuries. Seu Seu is still very rough around the edges, so the more time he spends on the park this season the better we'll be for future years.

Looks like two weeks off returning still:

Buderus not available for NRL Knights
July 31, 2007 - 7:19PM

Newcastle coach Brian Smith has challenged every player to lift the club out of their current slump with news hooker Danny Buderus won't be available for at least another two weeks.

Buderus has enjoyed rapid improvement with his Achilles tendonitis but continues to battle a medial ligament tear in his knee and Smith believes he will "struggle" to play against Manly next week in Gosford.

"Buderus is not even close," said Smith about the prospects of Buderus playing this Friday against St George Illawarra.

"He will struggle for the next week versus Manly.

"We have got him on the right track with the Achilles tendonitis problem and he is bragging about how well that is going.

"But he has got very little improvement with the medial problem in his knee so he is going to have to improve quite remarkably to play against Manly next week."

The Knights are reeling after another weekend thumping, a 52-10 loss to New Zealand Warriors. It was their third defeat in a row, virtually ending their NRL finals campaign.

Smith said the players had organised their own team meeting to address their form slump, adding he was impressed with their initiative and urged them to show their character to lift the club from the doldrums.

"They had a chat about it themselves, the boys today," said Smith, who gave the players an afternoon off to recover from flu and soreness from the weekend mauling.

"We are not going to solve any problems by flogging them at this stage of the season.

"We are hoping for a complete lift in energy levels because we have just had too many guys who weren't with the program on Saturday night (versus Warriors).

"The fact the boys wanted to chat amongst each other is another good sign.

"Probably the other thing is every game we have played here in Newcastle this year the boys have really had a good lash.

"I would not write us off yet."

Smith also confirmed Newcastle centre Adam MacDougall has agreed to terms for another season at the club next season.

We not going to make the finals anyway... No point trying to rush him, just give him a well earned rest, try different combinations with the team and go from there I think...

Meanwhile, Newcastle hooker Danny Buderus says he is aiming for a comeback next week against Manly at Gosford.

Buderus is sidelined with medial ligament damage in his knee and Achilles tendonitis and says he is struggling to sit in the grandstand while his teammates battle a three-game losing streak.

Buderus says his Achilles tendonitis is progressing well but he is having trouble overcoming the knee complaint and is limited to straight line running. Newcastle's season will go on the line this Friday night in a must-win battle with St George Illawarra at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

The best news there is his Achilles tendonitis is not going to be a problem anymore.

But we really are missing him, just adds so much all over the park but it's
his ruck defence that we are desperate to get back.

There about the only 2 players who deserve a rest to be honest. Simmo obviously but good luck getting him off the park.

Bit late for that. Patto burned out 3 weeks ago and Taia has been trying to do all the work for our forwards he gets no support his shot aswell.

Never played in the NRL and I never will so take this with a grain of salt.

How can those 2 YOUNG blokes be burnt out? Both have not played
a full season of 1st grade ever and they are all ready burnt-out.

If that is the case mate we are in some serious trouble in years to come.

I'd imagine it's because they are young blokes. They aren't yet used to the rough and tumble week in and week out of the NRL.

Physically I say they would be alright. They'd be burnt out mentally, there is alot of pressure on them to perform and at such a young age it's hard to get your head in the right frame of mind. It's a tough job, especially when your getting pumped by 50 points every other week.
