Yeah I explained what that reason is, mal picked boyd for origin. The selection was totally random and undeserved, however yes it has turned boyd into the best player he can be, and now there's a huge gap between him and kemp, but there wasn't at the time of his original origin selection. The difference between them now is all confidence. Great players don't make origin, origin makes great players. Qld is usually pretty good at spotting talent and potential and picking based on that and then turning talented young fellas like gi, hodges and slater into great players. Boyd didn't show that natural ability at all so how or why he got picked I don't know, but yes it has made him into a good player because thats what it will do. In the queensland camp anyway.

One of the best ball playing fbs though no way. Gi, hayne, bowen, stewart are many tiers above him and plenty are on par.

Doesn't work quite as well for the blues, partly because they're perenial losers but also because like I said there's no job security. Those 2 things will inhibit confidence. Mind you I think gidley is confident he's just very very ordinary, really better suited physically to soccer or running marathons, or better yet, being an accountant.

You are saying that Boyd is only good because he plays for QLD. That he didnt show any amount of talent to actually be selected, and only became a top tier player after being selected by QLD and gaining confidence.

Is this confidence in himself? his team mates? his coach? his ability to piss off forumers??

I hope QLD pick me, I would love to be a confident, representative NRL player.
