Sydney Roosters have tabled a massive $3.4m offer over four years for Gold Coast powerhouse David Fifita.
It is understood the Roosters formalised the offer on Monday afternoon.
The development comes as Penrith lodged a similar $850,000 a season offer for Fifita.
With a $4m war chest, the Roosters have cash to throw at Fifita while also believing they can re-sign in-form back-rower Angus Crichton.
The Roosters have more room to move in their salary cap than any rivals.
Fifita has told friends he wants to win a premiership and now has two of rugby league’s most powerful clubs pursuing him.
Gold Coast continues to work desperately hard to retain Fifita.

If he wants to win premiership and money not important, then Panthers is the team.

Regarding Roosters, forget about what happened the last 2 weeks. Without Reynolds Broncos were there to be beaten. Come this September, Roosters will last maximum 2 weeks in the finals and next year they will even be weaker.

Daily says Dragons have scheduled a meeting with him and Flanno.

No way we get him matching the Panthers 850k a season. Dragons would need to pay overs as in million or more a season.

Could be worth a gamble as might help future signings.

Unpopular opinion, but I’d rather retain Sua than sign fafita on 1.1m. Sua's runs are not far off being as destructive as fifita's this year and he has way better defence and work rate and could sign him for a minimum 300k less

He was on something like 200k (AUD) in England, Souths have given him 600k. When there's that much of a discrepancy in pay, I guess the decision was made pretty simple. Dragons could've easily gone in for him if they'd wanted him, which means I suppose they didn't

Wouldnt be surprised if this helps Sua decide to leave easier. Says he wants to stay, but whisper is they have offered him 600 for three years but he has an offer somewhere else for 700 that Dragons wont match. In Sua's head he must be thinking if you would pay DF over $850K, then maybe he is your man.

Fifita is an impact player who is not the same when asked to play longer minutes. Fifita will look good coming off the bench for Qld.
Saints need hard working, consistent players before worrying about the Fifitas, Schusters and Mitchell's of the world.

We have to bite the bullet to retain him.. has had some injuries but is a great edge option.

Agreed.. he has gone backwards this year. Either he is carrying injury or has lost motivation post his best mate exit.
Would not be surprised if he is allowed to pursue an exit…UK would be good for his style of play
