Terry Campese came out and said any talk of a 9 player revolt was bullshit.

its now been revealed that campese and white where the two who were the ones who fronted the board
man i would not ever feel safe being the next coach there
i would try and move those two players on, so you dont have to watch for knives

We went from having a group of nine players approaching the board to, less than 24 hours later, two players having a meeting with one of the board members on Monday afternoon.

So the original reports are, in fact, typical News Limited horseshit.

No one has identified who called the meeting with Campese and White. The board themselves may have approached them to get an understanding of what the senior leadership group was thinking.

I think pinning this on Campese and White is a bit unfair on them.

Perhaps it was a delegated thing:

player group -> leadership group -> Campese and White

Speaking up for those who don't want to speak up.

Or some such.

that makes more sense then this forum is known for. it was always going to be unlikely 9 players turned up at a board meeting to vent displeasure with the coach. the players have probably all talked among themselves and 2 of the more senior players nominated themselves to have a chat with the board.

then again it's gone from 9 to 2 - might be 5 by tomorrow

i still remember all the "jars of urine" found stashed at the titans training complex to turning into an old jam jar

Remember also that the CEO and Coach are brothers. Don Furner admitted that there was a clear conflict of interest there and recused himself of any involvement with Dave's appointment as coach.

The players may not have had confidence in Don's impartiality.

And that would be understandable. It's why im so critical of McIntyre. He sacks the bloke but didnt have the friggin balls to do it himself, and let Don do the dirty work. I know Don would have offered to do it as his brother and Dave said last night he was thankful it was Don who delivered the news... but to me that was McIntyres job, he got us into this mess and he took the cowards way out of it.

I have no doubt the club's playing group made their feelings clear and the Senior players, namely Campese and White felt it was their duty to esculate it to the next level. I dont understand why the players are so adamently denying their involvement, everyone knows they were involved and almost no fan actually cares

Denying it is strange

The board appointed him, they should have also fired him.

As for the denial from the players, I believe they are denying that it happened the way that News Limited reported it.

Well the Telecrap has confirmed it . .

"Canberra leaders Brett White and Terry Campese have admitted they approached Raiders board members to express disgruntlement the night before coach David Furner's axing. "

I have gotta say, the Board must be weak as piss to listen to Brett White - this guy has done nothing since he signed with the Raiders. As for Campese, he is a shadow of the player he was with all the injuries etc.

Absolute shambles - as Brain Smith said today, the Board should have just told the players to pull their heads in and pull the finger out and start playing like they are paid to do.

Didn't realise that as senior players, that they couldn't raise issues which they felt may be affecting morale and the culture within the club because they are not playing well. So if there are any issues, players are required to play a couple of good games before speaking out ?

Brett White has been pretty good since signing for the Raiders he has just been a touch injury prone.
