Are you serious Jay Mac defence is just about tackles it's about reading opersition attack. We got lapped at least 4 times that I could recall. We played some sides when they were either under strength or out of form . We were lucky we did not get Brisbane when Reece Walsh qas on fire. Our defence is woeful.
Dean Young needs to go.

Agree to disagree. I thought our defensive structure this season was better than any season in recent memory. Yes, there were individuals within that structure that did not execute and, yes, there were games that we threw in the towel (although we only lost 5 games by 13+ and 3 of those were the final 3 rounds when all hope was lost). However, in my view, our tendency to concede points were more closely correlated with our inability to win and maintain field position. I lost count of how many games we were camped on our tryline.

There's an old saying that "if you ain't go no cattle, you ain't got no farm". Well, the problem is we ain't got no cattle, and haven't for 10+ years. As if appointing a new defensive coach is going to be the thing that turns this band of rejects and journeymen into a premiership force. I'm not defending Dean Young and couldn't care less if he moved on, I'm just tired of this forum always looking in the wrong direction for scapegoats.

Why all the hate on Dean Young? I actually thought one of the few positives out of this season was our defence. Apart from a few one-sided contests, our defence was what kept us in most games. And the NRL statistics attest to this; fewest missed tackles by ANY team in 2025, despite being in the top group of teams for most tackles made. If Deano was responsible for that, then I say job well done and glad to have him around for 2026 and beyond.

Our defense (including our line speed in defense) was awful in 2025. Our wingers left their position on the field when we were the defending team, resulting in many tries scored against us. In addition, the lack of interest in taking the high ball by our wingers, was very troublesome.
