Dell calling it a day today?

Had a quick look but couldn't see anyone who had posted the story.

Would much rather see Karmichael Hunt and Tonie Carroll's NRL careers finish tonight.

From Foxsports/Courier Mail:

Wendell Sailor may retire if St George Illawarra lose to Brisbane

By Matt Marshall
September 19, 2009 Saturday night may prove the final stand of beloved NRL showman "Ding Dong Dell".
It is understood a Brisbane Broncos victory at Suncorp Stadium may bring down the final curtain on one of the most colourful careers in NRL history.

Flamboyant flyer Wendell Sailor, who shot to stardom at the Broncos in 1993, is weighing up retirement at the completion of St George Illawarra's season.

Should the minor premiers bow out at The Cauldron, Sailor may make a post-game announcement in front of Brisbane's adoring public to end a decorated 17-year career spanning two codes.

The 35-year-old winger, currently off contract at St George-Illawarra at season's end, has repeatedly stated he will delay a decision on whether to embark upon a 2010 cameo until the off-season.

But it is understood his scheduled one-to-one summer chat with career-long mentor Wayne Bennett may be averted with Sailor giving strong consideration to hanging up the boots 18 months after his return to rugby league.

You got it all wrong Matt Marshall. There won't be any post match retirement by Dell.

There will however be Dancing Dell performing in front of Bay 318 at the conclusion of the game tonight. \\\\:D/

Once we put the Broncos behind us, Dell should announce this will be his last year.

It'll fire the boys up for the final push.

Dell needs to retire at the end of the season IMO. He's had a successful return to NRL and the past indiscretions well behind him and can now leave the game on a high, regardless of what happens. He's been highly valuable to this year's campaign because we needed his experience and attitude but next year that won't be as important, he may be playing off the bench if he is still there. There are no shortage of post career options for the Dell; he could play overseas for a final retirement package or he could work in the media so that's also a bonus.

He can't keep Nightingale, Lett and some of the other boys out of 1st grade next year.

Come on Dell, this is it mate, your last chance at premiership glory....fire the boys up and bring it home.
