It's hard to make the call with our little knowledge as to whether it's a good move paying him out or not. I remember some of the 3P guys saying that they had sponsors lined up but they wouldn't deal until Fitzy was gone.
Who's to say that they don't have $2M+ in sponsors waiting in the wings for Fitzt to be ousted. You could hardly call that hypocritical or a bad move at all.
But then again it may be a purely personal thing. Without the facts it's just speculation

If that's the case then of course it's money well spent.

Well Fitzy did say goodbye and that it would be his last meeting when he was the CEO's meeting the other week, maybe he is chucking it in.?

he's not silly enough to chuck it in without a settlement...but it appears more likely that both parties will part ways very shortly..

how weird will it be for a Parra supporter without the emperor at the helm.

I'm not old enough to remember him ever not being at the helm.... when I was five I wouldn't have known who he was.

My prediction is he will go today but not at the hands of 3P.

Grant Mayer has some good ideas, nothing that happened at Manly was his fault it was all infighting on the board.
Zappia was football manager here for sometime, The sharks look like they have made some signing blunders in the last couple of seasons, is that Stuarts fault or Zappia? coz we are all blaming Fitzy and not Hagan and Smith.
I would be chasing Shane Richardson myself, everywhere he goes there seems to be sucess on and off the field.

Journos seem to take a lead and run with it. Fitzy said his good-byes to other CEO's and Gallop at the end of last week, so I guess that's the basis of the story.

Seems a tad hypocritical for 3P who painted a picture of a $20M debt ridden club, if they write him a cheque for $400k in their first week in power.

Gronk 3P dont take over until tonight, so basically i have heard the current board has agreed to his release ...

so we will see how true it all is, later today he is having a press conference ...

I hope one of their last acts wasnt writing a pay out cheque....

zappia would be good for the footy side of things, he knows how parra was run under brian smith and since he left we got away from all of that aswell, so i hope he comes back to parra ...

as for ceo of leagues club .. who ever is best suited to the position ...

Beyond his severance of $400k as per contract ? Yes I agree.

BTW he'll need a wheel barrow to carry out his long service leave entitlement.

I heard the same thing, which in my view is dodgy and deceiving if it were true

I agree 100%....and off course Zappia was involved with signing up players for Cronulla, that's his primary focus. I would be looking towards a fresh start with a proven CEO. Richardson fits the role perfectly. Is he off contract?

Yeah, I reckon if the current board did that on the last day of their tenure there would be serious questions of propriety

Only if it was beyond the terms of his employment contract. My take on this is that the Ayatollah is going out on his terms, rather than being sacked and then having to put up with News Ltd gloating for 3 days straight.
