A place for posts about players leaving the club at seasons end, where their efforts and sacrifices can be enshrouded in immorality
Happy to see him leave to be honest. Isn't the type of personality you want around at the club, especially on $800k.What can we say about Jackson Hastings? Gave us some of the most effective halfback play we’ve seen at the club since Joey retired in 2023, then in 2024 he both seemingly stopped doing the stuff which was so effective for him in the previous season + alienated a lot of his teammates. The leg injuries are a bummer and have hampered him clearly but ultimately he likely wears out his welcome with us anyway even without them. Chad Townsend will finish his career with almost 275 NRL games to his name, Jackson had the potential to play about that much or more but couldn’t stay out of his own way.
Unfortunately there are people like that in just about every decent sized organisation. Some people have really abrasive personalities and either don’t have the self awareness or humility to back off when they’re clearly causing trouble in a team environment. A recent example comes to mind in a team work environment that I was in, where a particular person was the common denominator in any drama that occurred, and events like this would occur every couple of weeks or so between this person and various other team members, and it was almost always the same story, where this person would basically go looking for trouble with people. The worst part was whenever they were called out for it there would be a massive dummy spit and this would result in more drama rather than just saying “my bad, won’t happen again” and allowing everyone to move on.Jackson Hastings will forever be a talking point for every club he has ever been to. How does a personality prove to be so divisive everywhere they go? It’s not just one. It is every single one. I wish him well in Superleague. If he can find a club.
