The CvC game was hoping to take 10,000 - but ended up around 8500. Plenty of Sydney people in that crowd too! But mostly it was kids from Mudgee, Gulgong, Bathurst etc

Hopefully this won't clash with my sons footy that weekend. We have a farm about 1 hour away, past Bathurst, which would work out well for a weekend get away.

If the wife decides not to go, I could manage to take a few of u eels tragics with me.

Seems interesting for the NRL to be promoting the game in the bush and the people not turning up, were ticket prices steep for a rep game or were there other reasons (I can't remember what the weather was like)?

no no - the ground was brand new - only opened on that day, capacity hadn't been set. They were hoping to fit in 10,000 but got to the late 8 thousands and it was starting to get a bit tight.
Weather was drizzly and cool, and it was a Sunday alvo. The town organised shuttles from the centre town and surrounding towns - it was a great atmosphere!

How does a gigantic Stadium like ANZ give us a better deal than a small stadium like the one at Parra?

The same questions were asked when Souths were forced to bail out of SFS in favour of ANZ. Both Parra & SFS are GOV owned and the bureaucrats clearly have NFI.

As I have said before. ANZ Stadium has members. Those members pay and Annual fee. That fee is used to attract events to the Stadium for the members to see. 15,000 or so members, paying last year a fee of Between $780 and $850, so the get about 11 million to spend. 1 Million to the Bunnies, 1 Million to the Dogs, 200,000 to us. Then 2 Swans games, 1 Giants game. Two Warratah's games, the Bledisloe, The State of Origin and Grand Final. Plus they fund the Thunder for their 3 or 4 games at ANZ and there is the International T20 at ANZ as well. Everyone gets a drink and ANZ Stadium gets the gates of all of those events.

The SFS is run by the SCG trust isn't it. Which while it has the Members, I don't know if the members funds are used attracting events as such.

Parramatta Stadium is owned by the government, and I don't know about you but a Government facility, paying someone to use it wouldn't go down well with some punters now would it?

MITS, going by what the OP says it may well work out to be $34,000 a game but we get the use of the stadium for the 12 months, not just the 10 games.

Realistically we pay $340,000 a year for the ground hire, where we happen to play 10 games a year. I wonder how much we will pay for the combined event only hire and setting up the new centre of excellence. Will it only be $170,000 a year?

Good question. But the other fun notes we have had about the stadium is that NSW soccer have been using the stadium for about 5 years, including their Office Facilities, and they were using the Top deck more then us. Do you think the NSW soccer foundation could afford what we are paying?

The precedent had been set by Fitzy when he agreed to the previous deal. It makes sense that those in charge of the stadium would want a similar deal this time round and it doesn't surprise me that they didn't jump at the offer of cutting the rent in half. In any case this is still only half (or perhaps even less) of the story, but I am glad that it is finally resolved and we are keeping the majority of our home games at Parra. Well done Bob and the board.

Upon expiry of the lease in 2031, the Stadium and all property in it reverts to full ownership by the NSW Government, through the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.http://www.anzstadium.com.au/AboutUs/TheStadium.aspx

anz has a lot more empty seats to sell ;-)

anyone who doesnt want to buy a full membership with games going elsewhere you can still be a non-ticketed member and just go to the games you want

i'd say the memberships would be based on the games at parra and ANZ and not include the mudgee game. THey also do a Parra stadium only membership which would be good too.
I hope a couple of those parra stadium games are on Saturday so i can come down for at least 2.

The ANZ Stadium club is already looking at extending that Lease. We were told about it last year around renewal time.
