Thanks to all for the comments and concern, and you are probably owed a better answer than what I'll give...
Many of the RL1908 articles are posted on a new site where I am profiling my work > http://www.byanoldboy.com
The other sites relate to my interest in early rugby (mostly before RL was founded) > http://www.rugbeia.com & http://www.rugbyaustralis.com
re RL1908.com
Hosting costs aren't the issue.
I tired of providing a free information service to/for the game for no return...
It also became apparent to me that others weren't breaching copyright of my work, but the site was providing quite a good template/resource for others (on the web & elsewhere).
50K unique vistors every month for past 10 years was terrific, but barely 1 or 2 a month cared to buy a $20 RL history book (half of which was blown on packing & postage). The model was not sustainable, but I perservered with it in the hope it would lead to other opportunities. Unfortunately, we all eventually reach a limit.
If a paying model arises RL1908.com and/or its content may return.
