Different seasons?

It strikes me that it would be possible for the USARL to play in winter and the AMNRL to play in summer - and for some teams and many players to play in both comps.

I know that isn't the plan for the coming season, but it could be the plan for next year if people wanted to go that way.

The fact that League only has a 3 month season in the US even gives the possibility that you could have a spring and a summer comp with one finishing and the other kicking off.

No chance of success against the NFL due to not being able to get any press and it would mean competing with Union - must remain a summer sport while at this level to survive. Needs to be played during a time that gives least comptition for venues, media, players, etc, etc
We need to give ourselves the best chance to suceed as a sport (not matter where you stand on the current issue) and playing in the summer give us less competing "items" than any other time.

Ever been to Boston or NY in the winter? If you had you'd realize that would never work. Summer is as good as time as any. Plus those of us who use stadiums and from high schools or colleges have to complete with inter-scholastic athletics. In the summer most school is out of session so we get a better chance at obtaining decent grounds.

The Northern Hemisphere has generally moved to a summer competition, hasn't it? Makes sense to keep the USA on the same schedule.

Also, it might mean that if anyone sees league in the US then they would be able to head online and find live/up-to-date info from comps going on in other parts of the world (NRL, ESL). They might lose interest if they had to wait until the local comp finished before seeing a professional version of the sport. With a summer comp, the NRL and ESL can be used to build interest in rugby league that can then flow immediately back into the US competitions.
