Thought we left about 5 tries out there, but just did what we had to. Souths were a shambles, but we absolutely belted them from the very beginning.

Best performance I’ve seen Kennedy play. Contract year? Keep it up mate.

oh and the gorillas thrashed de la in the u8’s prior. Cheer cheer
All 3 grades won today even makes it better

AFB gave WK a huge endorsement @ interview after the game.

He was busier than I have ever seen him and he was at it from Tackle 2 of the game. He was up in the attacking line all game yet never got caught out of position in transition. Line break assists, try assists, tries, bomb defusals, backing up, filling in spaces, organising attack and defence.

Everything, the haters say he can't do delivered in the one game.
Loved his game against Souths.

If he produces that every week then he’s doing what we’ve been screaming about wanting for the past few seasons.

AFB is a machine.
What he's doing for so many minutes is what we'd occasionally see from BHU and Royce in spurts. Addin just keeps going and going.
His post contact metereage is monstrous.
In yeaterdays game he had 103m in post contact, next best was Iro with 56m.

He actually has done for the past 3 games. Not his fault some people refuse to see beyond their fixed beliefs.

Might get Dally M points again. Could take the lead because Ponga ponged
He’s had a great start to the year no doubt.

I love players playing in a contract year.

It’s normally their best year playing wise of their contract.

I'm going to mention something here which I think myself and @Frenzy. have slightly touched on over the past couple of years.

We have three Indgy fellas in our spine, I'm not sure how many teams have had that over the years, but I'm going to try and explain what it means to these guys, and I will add Jesse in this as well.

You feel a very deep bond. It's totally instinctive. You can't help it.
And when this "instinct" feel for a game goes on you get to see them play like they did yesterday.
While the Jets were on, Tricky and Nicho sat together, and tha was next to me. They were just brothers talking, being near each other, just like they were in the game.
I watched the game again this morning, and from the box view it does look like Tricky was very in control, but live and so close i watched Nicho conduct where each play was going and then let Tricky do his thing.
It was two brothers playing for each other and the team. I loved every second of it.

After the game the South's Indgy and ours all embraced big time. Jesse brought his kid over for Jack Weighton. Cody was all in for our fellas.
It's something special and I have in no way explained it well, that's only because I'm not sure how to express it except for unconditional love.

On a similar note, i also see it with our Islander fellas, they have something between them, especially the ones with Tongan heritage. Their strong bond cannot go understated. It's real.

In saying all that, the team as a whole really se to want to be around each other.
They have their own special handshakes, which I'm obviously getting on because I find them funny. The one between BHU and Sifa cracked me up, I'd seen it before but it was between pot smokers haha.

Think the didgi connection plays in our favour when it comes to re-signing Will too. Will and Tricky go back a long way. Also having Kiwis and Islanders in our side means we are less affected by the Origin circus too. Fitz is all about the bonding of the side as a whole and having plenty of these guys on board only adds to the connection.

Finally home after a weekend away and watched it late yesterday.
Agree with most of what has been said in here.

On WK, he's been exceptional the past couple of weeks.
Over the past 18 months or so I've been pretty vocal about looking for a better option but, If he keeps it up, I'm more than happy to extend him.

Aside from his upswing in form, the most pleasing aspects for me are that Nicho and Trindall look like they're starting to figure out how to play together, and the attitude in defense, particularly early in the game.

Those first few sets really set the tone.
Teig, in particular, was a monster.
There are plenty in here who don't rate him, but I recon Jai Arrow and Campbell Graham do.
He belted them both all day.

Well that’s it isn’t it. Can WK keep that energy and type of play up? If he does then most in here will get off his back.

But there is a reason why people were on his back before. He wasn’t doing enough in a very important spine position. If you’re playing in that position it’s vital you’re one of the best on field most weeks.

There’s only so much sentiment etc. that can be stretched. No matter how nice a guy you are or how much you bond with the team. Especially if you’re in a spine position. It’s the duty of the Club to upgrade those positions if someone presents a better option or the incumbent isn’t being effective enough on the playing field.

As I said in a previous post it’s his contract year. I’m sure he knows more than anyone that he needs a huge year. There’s a reason why the Club haven’t signed him up yet. They obviously want to see if he can deliver what they need from the position. He’s certainly putting his best foot forward.

Willie Mason did a great job of explaining what AFB does to our shape vs using any old front rower(think BHU, Toby etc). AFB takes up so much attention that when he is the lead player the defence has to think about him but then the ball swings out to a half past AFB. You now have Wilton or Nikora running these wild man lines which you need to account for and gives the half the option to hit. Now lets say the backrowers were also a decoy we now have the option to hit Iro or Raimen who are going 100 miles an hour as well or throw it out the back to a WK or secondary half to put the winger over. It makes the defence think a lot and if they jump out or make the wrong decision early we have a ton of space. Look at how many of our tries are being scored out wide vs the middle. Nicho's first try was a good example of it even though it was Kaufusi there not AFB this time. AFB did the play the ball which drew 5 players around the goal post ffs.

AFB does a ton for us as a threat without the ball that we didn't have when it was say Toby or a "normal" prop there.

The second half Souths had a lot of that ball and were so bad. They wasted a ton of time but they also defended better. We were close on a number of occasions but the stop, start nature of it was just brutal but understandable given the scoreline.

My take on this is that if all the ducks were in a row for Round 1 we would have seen this new style then but I don't think Nicho was 100% in that game. He'd had that cork on the trial, didn't take goalkicks and wasn't really in the game.

Round 2 we only saw glimpses of the emerging understanding as well. This was probably Flu A and COVID related. Not sure Kleenex was 100% for that game either but was on the improve. I do recall though asking if anyone else noticed 6 and 7 were playing on the same side more than we have seen before.

In all this, Bubba was playing within himself but above the standard of 23-24.

Round 3 comes. WK is cut loose and plays entirely differently than he has for years. I reckon this is the first time in while WK has been free of bumps and bruises, niggles and strains etc, Kleenex looks fit and well and Tricky is not playing on one lung as he was against the Cows.

It highlights the recruitment strategy for mine. For this new style to work you'd really need stability and understanding.

In a word. Connection. Big Bop has a huge role for both Poly and Indgy lads in this with his multi heritage view and experience.
