There was a great try last week by the bulldogs.
Sexton ran straight and picked up mahoney on the inside.

Slow defenders hate inside support because they've turned their shoulders out. Most will just make a half hearted effort through tiredness and the fact the ballrunner has gone.
Dolphins are running up huge scores because the young 7 is a true exponent of this play. I'd bet $5 Kristen Wolf has him watching Cronk/slater and JT/bowen videos.
There were some grabs doing the media rounds before the last SOO game where Joey tore the Toads a new one in 2005.

What is it all these 7's do?
Straighten the attack.
Then look out before playing back inside.

What does our 6 and 7 do?
Nothing remotely close to this.
Sideways.
Sideways.
Sideways.

What does ramien do?
Sideways.
Whos Hynes favourite runner?
Nikora?....Plays out to this guy heading back into defence.
Brailey?
Scoots and then runs sideways and circles looking for a runner.

Our straightest runner?
Mcplod.
But never looks like passing. Dives for a quick PTB.

Wonder what % of our tries are scored outside the centre third of the field?
And this is why Joey is so excited about Isaiya ? Katoa.
He know what it takes to break down a defence, and he has the ability to do it.

Ha. Here's one I prepared earlier.

So we are top 2?
Surprise surprise Sgt Carter!

I checked the data for 2019 and the average is high 20s and 1 or 2 in the 30s.
Average this year high teens so a trend of the game.
Support play through the middle is in decline.
I would say most tries in the middle are forwards like Tom and AFB crashing over.

I imagine coaches are terrified of poor ball security and would rather hit it up the middle than ball play.
Would there be a spot for a Gav Miller today?

Interestingly with this trend of one out hitups through the middle I reckon ball security is as bad as it's ever been.
Gav in modern game would have been amazing, he just didn't have that offload, imagine is little kicks behind the line, that asset from a backrowers.
And he would have been the face of the game

The johns bros always talk about halfbacks taking the ball into the line.
If you're a defender what you love is a guy running sideways 5 metres in front of you.
Easy to identify his runners and you just pick them off.

Katoa running right at you, both hands on the ball...f**k.
He's fast and strong. The closer he gets the more uncertain you get - he's got runners either side, if he dummies and you flinch he's through like a rabbit.
He moves right - you go, you plant your feet, then he plays a trickshot back inside.
Play after play.
That's why they're racking score of 50. Nikorimas got his running game on song. Both are constantly going at tired defenders.

How Fitz can allow our halves to run so sideways and not stop it...?
He was at roosters when Pearce was there. Cronk.
Even Sam walker.
None of those guys play sideways.

Frenzy.

You know, Pollard can play the exact same way. Especially in Flegg and especialy when at 7. He loses a bit when playing 6 as he's an out and out half. He, like Katoa, must have been a couple of Cleary's most avid pupils because they both have a lot of Clearyisms in their carriage and game play.

I look forward to 2030 when he debuts for the Sharks. You know, after the deluge.

Probably be Metcalf's replacement at the warriors after his 14th knee reconstruction
