Taken from an article in todays tele 22mar04

Raper admitted he was disappointed with the level of discipline shown by the Sharks, with fullback David peachey earning 10mins in the sin bin for dissent.
The Cronulla coach intends to address the issue at training throughout the week ahead of the Sharks match with Manly at Toyota park on Saturday night.
"Whether the referee was wrong or right we played a part in it and that's something that we'll address this week" Raper said.

Finally someone has recognised that discipline has been an issue for us!

How to get the message out without getting fined. It wasn't just a case of discipline. This ref did not know the rules & had a poor game as did the touchies.

It also tells whoever wants to listen, that the Sharks, will have to better than the errors that the referees will make.

Discpline problems are rarely made public & don't need to be.
Referees criticism can only be made by one man & thats Gallop.

Its only over the last two years that our discipline has fallen away. Previous to that we were one of the most disciplined sides in the NRL. Whilst we don't want to blame Anderson for everything it seems that the side has development a resentment with referees when decisions don't go there way. This stems from the previous coachs poor attitude to blaming everything and everyone for things that don't go right rather than looking at himself to set the example. Lang was a perfect example of how to stay composed and this was evident again on Friday night with the no try to Roberts. If that was the Sharks we would have imploded!! you dont think the sharks have had a discipline problem over the last few seasons reefy?

Ofcourse I do.
The could not have played that flat style without breaking the rules.
On Sat night however, the majority of penalties were fairly mixed. 3 penalties at least the ref was clearly in the wrong, which in itself lead to more penalties.
Like I said prior to the game, Steve Folkes & the Bulldogs have thoroughly researched & gotten the information they needed in regards to play the ball area. They have the jump on most other clubs & will always get the benefit of the doubt in the play the ball, a la Anastas dive. If the Sharks player had have done that rest assured that he would have penalised the Sharks. It's like the referees are scared of the name players.
Just like they are scared of the can of worms it will open up if they start penalising the Roosters for jumping early.

Yep, we did geta couple of dodgies.
But that is not the point.

The point is, the dogs were only penalised once in the play the ball.
They are near perfect. Didn't you know that?

Sharks were penalised 6 times. & one send off for it.

Bravo Stuey. Hopefully he will eliminate this unsavoury element of our game that crept in under Andersons reign of terror.

Simply put to be ill-disciplined in todays game is a sure-fire recipe for losing games. Lets hope we get back to our pre-Opes days of one of the better performed teams in this area that will aid our resurgence greatly.

Well mate, you said it way better than I could...

I agree completely. I screamed the house down last year about our discipline. I also agree as to who was the cause of it in 2003!!

It will take time, but Stuey is on the right track to finish the cleansing job and return us to our once respected and family orientated club and then take us the next step, to Rugby League history...

It was that little homo An-ass-ta that cost us the game.

I have'nt see a dive like that since Sterlo went off the high board on DDD.

I hope he get's his head taken off by Morley on Friday night.

Can someone refresh my memory I had been in the pub for a while by the time the Sharks played. I woke up remembering yelling something to the effect of " Salary Cap Cheating , lying scurge of the planet ". and some.
Did Anasta take a dive just before they scored the winning try? Was it a penalty against Bailey for holding down?

We had them in their 20 with about 4 to go.
Anasta gets up to play the ball and falls flat on his face, with no Sharks hand within about a foot of him.

Penatly.

Sherwin kicks it inside our 20. 3 tackles and a knock on later, game over

as i can remember at least 3 occasions (there are probably more) where the dogs were penalised in the play the ball and the fact peachey did deserve to be binned

i question your objectivity mr reefy

What exactly did Peachey do to be binned? He was in the ruck area but did he intentionally trip up the dogs player? It's pretty hard to tell. He does bump him with his leg but it may not have been intentional.
