'Screw the one offs', 'we'll win the 4N'...'I'm not worried there was nothing in it...'
And so on.
I do care. I'm sick of this shit. You never, ever see a score blow out, and basics getting forgotten with Australia, regardless of whos out. That was embarrassing, hard to watch, and just-not-good-enough.
We have the WC, and the 4N. To many fans, that's what they fall back on, and crow about after being forced to watch stuff like this. The good 'ol 'Silverware in the cupboard', they'll boast....'who's the better team?

They are. It is lack lustre half arsed games like this that have us constantly at long odds at the TAB, because when it comes to the crunch, we are still far too inconsistant and unreliable.
Yes I'm mad. I am sick of games like this and score blowouts like that. And the sad thing is the scoreline flattered us.
3-2-1? **** off. Locke played well. The res can go and stare at their ****ing shoes in the dressing room. That was terrible. You cannot expect to win vs Aussie all the time, and yes we were down on troops. But that was appalling, and gives the critics that continually say the Kiwis only beat the Aussie occasionally (and happened to fluke the ones that counted in the last couple of years) more ammunition.
You wanna prove them wrong? Actually be able to HONESTLY say we are as good as Aussie, on a par? Well, games like this need to be a thing of the past. We are better than that.
Didn't expect to win but did not expect tripe like that either. And Moimoi should **** off back to primary level until he learns the basics again. Was that really an NRL Pro?!

Who the f**k cares if it was a trial game? You play to win. Always. We got f**kin served and it was disgusting.

It actually reminded me a lot of the Warriors vs Broncos finals game. WHEN we actually held the ball we looked pretty good. But we didn't hold the ball.

Fein, Packer and Moimoi were....bad. Packer isn't an international level prop yet, seemed very out of his depth.

JWH, Glenn and Locke were good. Can't wait to see our proper spine behind forwards who can actually go forward.

Here is a news flash - Australia are a better team than us. Its a fact that they just have much better and more experienced players than us. The only time we are going to be competitive with them is when a number of factors are ALL alligned ie:
Full Strength
Good preperation
A bit of luck
Even ref.

If one of those factors aren't there then we will always struggle. If none of those factors are there we will ALWAYS lose by this kind of margin. I cant see that ever changing and I'm not sure why anyone is surprised.

We were pathetic.

Probably the weakest team we have fielded in 10 years, but we still let ourselves down with schoolboy errors, horrendous defense, terrible communication, no leadership.

Standout performances of uselessness for me:
Both halves, all props, all outside backs, most second rowers.
Actually, pretty much everyone apart from Locke, Luke (at times) and Glenn.

Why does Kearney continue to pick back rowers at centre? Lewis Brown was humilated today and that was by a guy who isn't even that good.

Big coaching blunder playing Lewis in the backline. Junior Sa'u should of been given a chance.

Wasn't he unavailable, like Matai, Ropati, SKD, Inu, Vatuvei, Perrett, Hoffman. We've got so many backs out we're left no choice. Despite that I would've thought Glenn was the better choice for makeshift centre.

Thomas for Fien...Matulino for McKendry...Blair to the second row, Glenn to centres and brown to the bench interchange...

we were ratshit, the ref was appalling..aussie deserved the win

Agree but make that Moimoi & one of either Packer/JWH.Mckendry
Start blair at prop and proctor at 2nd row.

The 1 off test thing will probably come out as well but they aren't complete strangers and have been together a bot longer than normal

It's a valid argument not an excuse

You're more likely to win games if you have had an opportunity to gel through out the year

Pfft who are you to say this is NOT an excuse, to me that more than explains that this crock of shit match is tarnishing the International Game

Glenn to centre, Matulino in for Packer or McKendry(I thought JWH went alright yesterday) and Proctor into the second row until Blair is available. Luke is the x factor, need to play the 20 mins leding up to half time and the last 20 mins, he could carve the English pack up.

yesterdays 'Test' was about one thing, gate sales. It was a fundraiser.

It was nothing more than a warm up game.

The last time the poms played a 1 off was also in Newcastle iirc, they got flogged and told the ARL to get f**ked.

When will we ?, does nothing whatsoever for the game.

Poms have won my respect over that Oz, I didnt know they did that, it's time for us to be given fair treatment and lets kick start this Kiwi Origin now, we need combinations to form over the year not chose second rate players or juniors to fill the spots and get flogged each year, to build the game we need combinations that match our tasman neighbours. If the powers to be want to see this garbage each year so be it, All the wins over the years should feel very hollow to the Aussie fans knowing very well that they have an advantage, I know I would be if I was an aussie fan coz I want to see competition at it's best in internationals not flog a b rated team that had no chance from the start

At least before the four nations each year we should play two warm up games, one against a team like the Cook Islands like we were supposed to this year with the team made up of players eliminated from the finals and then a game at Mt Smart against Tonga or Samoa a week before the four nations.

TBH, the Kiwi administration look like a total bunch of geniuss for bailing on the Cook Islands test now... sure could have done with a bit of cohesion before last night's epic fail.

I just can't get on board with the "it's to be expected" mentality when we put in a performance like that. Would have in the past, when we were desperately trying to fly someone in from England to fill a void. Would have when we were throwing a center with no halves experience into standoff because, well, there was noone else. Would have when we were cobbling together a disparate side made up of players from different comps, some of whom were in and out of reserve grade sides.

A number of guys in the team picked on Sunday may not have been first or even second choice picks, but that doesn't mean that any of them were third rate players. Guys in that side have won titles at international level, the majority have NRL finals experience, and a number of them have grand final experience. Our spine is made up of quality players who are all specialists in their positions (except for Foran).

Noone is saying that we should have beaten the Kangaroos, but IMO, we have every right to expect better than what was served up on Sunday. I'll take a loss on the chin, but not a mid-table, NSW cup performance from a team of full time NRL first graders. There's just no excuse for it.

Its expected.

I think you guys are being to hard on yourself just look at your outside backs yesterday no experience besides nightie.

Having no centres as well to pick from hurts, beale is not a center or either is brown.

1.Locke
2.Manu
3.SKD
4.Matai
5.Nightie

Now that would give it to the aussies.

Unfortunately guys easy to bag the NZRL for having this nothing test

BUT . ...

Tests like these pay the bills.
Not just for the Kiwis Tour - that essentially pays for itself.

But it pays for much of NZRL and it operations.
It subsidises the NZRL National Comp etc.

Though it was a bad look to cancel Cook Island test.
It was avoidable.

They should have just renamed them to a NZ PM 13 or NZ Selection.
Though they didnt do anything for KIWI brand name yesterday.
