Dissapointed School Kids

Maybe the teachers need to be more careful in what they say to the kids next time. The club seems to be copping it in this thread but it may not be them who balls it up.

Hence;

The Colonel said:
All easy to say it should have been NRL players coming to the school but it would have been organised by ARLD not the club. Ring them before throwing accusations at the club for not providing who you thought they were. Disappointing yes for the kids involved but the school and ARLD need to communicate a bit better.

PJ nailed it above. Certainly disappointing for the kids but the teachers need to communicate better with ARLD and the kids.

A few years ago, Parra sent out a nuffie who none of the kids had heard of to my sons primary school to run a few drills and talk to the kids. They were pretty disappointed at the time as they were expecting a big name.

The players name was Jarryd Hyne or Hain or something like that............

Let's hope we have trouble remembering Josh's name in a few years.....

Yea Marshal's hit the nail on the head here.. there's a good chance the school has misunderstood and promoted something that was never on the cards..

At my primary school we got junior parra players and junior swans player, and we were taught/told to get photos of them, get their autographs, and be their biggest fans for the day that they play first grade. We were encouraged to support the teams at EVERY level, not just first grade.

OK, the parra player was a nuffie, but the Swan's player was a young Michael O'Loughlin - and i loved him from that day onwards for that reason!!

I would have been P*ssing my pants with excitement if I knew Parra players were coming to my school (and I was in Primary in the early 90's)

I can understand what a let down that would have been, bbe

Me too! If Parra players were to come to my primary school (Parramatta East Primary School) when I was a kid, (in the sixties) they would have included Ken Thornett, Ron Lynch, Dick Thornett, Archie Brown, Ivor Lingard. Wow! I`m pissing my pants now!

TICKY FULLERTON: Jane says she was raped by Adam Heuskes and Peter Burgoyne and that at one point, Heuskes and Michael O'Loughlin were masturbating close to her face.

JANE: I came to, then - and they did that - then blacked out again.

MAN: The three of them did that?

JANE: Um, I think it was just Heuskes and O'Loughlin - it was dark, yep - while Peter was doing other things.

yup

sounds like a charmer

I think the school kids should read these forums and then pick 10 eels fans they would like to come out and show them some drills

Need to get something of my chest, today Parra players were to turn up to my son's school OLOL at Seven Hill, instead they got 1 young fella from our NYC side, Josh.T who obviously noone recognised no offence to him and I think 1 training staffer came along as well, a few kids turned up with a few little things to sign and some had also worn their jerseys and obviously very excited which soon turned to dissapointment, if u make a commitment u should keep and not treat people like idiots, Parra as a club are moving forward but in this instance was 2 steps forward five steps back.:(

PS Do realise little Oscar passed last night and that would have rocked the club, still thought even 1 First Grader would have been ok as well.

Excuse my ignorance, but who was little Oscar?

There is two sides to this argument. Unfortuately rugby league is now a business and performance is everything. Players can have training times change etc. I can understand that people can get disappointed but it is not always the fault of the players. Many players do wonderful and positive things for the local communities and never get recognised for their work and most times are happy to to do it without the fun fare.
As a passionate rugby league supporter at all levels, it might seem funny when people refer to AFL with certain names etc. However, they have a massive war chest and are getting in with the schools, they will never be the dominate sport in Western Sydney but they could make a huge dent.
I know of there schools out there where there are teachers who have coached current NRL players at school and club level and they can't even get those players to their schools when working ARL development. It's a catch 22 for all concerned.
