Do the French hold the ground record at Parra Stadium?

I remember Australia played France in a Test at Parramatta Stadium about 10-11 years ago and remain certain the game was a 27,000 sell-out. Is this the current ground record at the ground. I know the Eels had some big crowds in 86 when the stadium opened.

Also what is the crowd record for an Aus v France game in Aus?

cheers.

I remember going to that game as a young grom, my first time watching the Roos play led by big Mal. Great night at the stadium even though we pounded them by 60 odd points.

If the crowd at Parramatta in 1994 for Aus v France wasn't a record, it was very close. The Souths match is still the official record though.

As for record crowds Aus v France in Australia, they are:-

1955 1st test SCG 67,700 odd (cap)
1951 3rd test SCG 67,009 (cap)
1955 3rd test SCG 62,000 (cap)
1951 1st test SCG 60,100 (cap)

Given the SCG comfortably held about 50,000 at this time, they are huge (and dangerously large) crowds.

The capacity was constantly changing depending on police safety limits and SCG Trust requirements.

The two second tests (1951 and 1955) were also played before capacity crowds in Brisbane.

The Nissan Sevens in 1991 had about 29,000 to Parramatta Stadium.

Just with that French test in 1994 it was Mal Meninga's last test in Australia. 58-0 was the scoreline, though it couldve been more if they kicked most of the goals, they missed quite a lot.

I thought the Roo Tour of that year was Mal's swansong?

Aren the World Championship games considered tests? They played in 1975 at Lang Park with a crowd of 9,000.

I could be wrong, but it would seem as if Australia France tests averaged as big or bigger crowds than Australia New Zealand Test throughout the 50s, 60s and 90s

Well up until PNG's inclusion as a test nation, NZ was always the easy beats of world RL.

The crowd of 27243 for the Parramatta Vs Souths game in 1986 is the record for a Parramatta home game. The all time record for a crowd at Parramatta Stadium is 29913 for the Nissan Sevens on February 11 1991
