that phrase could also describe most yawnyawn players

Oh ho, please!!

Even the worst Union players are able to attack and defend instead of needing a second team to come onto the field at once.

a really good tackle on the quarter back which lost them ground, that sort of thing happens in league all the time, but this dickhead got up after performing the tackle and started pointing to the sky, chest thumping and yelling "who da man!!!" at the top of his lungs!

If play stopped after every tackle in league or union that might happen....nah, we have more humility than that.

Traitor??????? :?

Mate you follow union, A sport that is in direct competition with Rugby League, A sport that would love to kill off League in this country. If anything you are more of a traitor.

Overall i find American football better and more enjoyable to watch than Union, and both NFL and Union players have nothing on League players as far as fitness and skill.

I follow union AFTER league... and union is a sport that WE actually play! American football isn't even a sport, it's just an excuse for advertising company's to get people sitting on their ass fo 4 hours so they can churn out their products! To mention NFL in the same breath as any sport Australians play, lawn bowls included, is an insult to the sporting presteige of Australia!

Do you seriously think Union has ANY chance of doing that??? Of course not! So what are you crapping on about?

They do and that's the point.

NFL has had an influence on Rugby League too, a positive influence that doesn't include throwing money at players to change codes.

American culture is like a disgusting disease, the less we receive of it the better! We seriously need to limit their influence on the greatest game of all! The last thing I would want to see is league players start dressing up like a bunch of coked up power rangers who yell "who da man!" and chest thump every time they pull off a tackle!
The NFL is a shit sport, and there is obviously a VERY good reason that only Americans play it seriously!

The NFL is a sh*t sport, and there is obviously a VERY good reason that only Americans play it seriously!

Firstly, I dislike Union and AFL because I understand them. You hate NFL yet wouldn't know a Quarterback from an arsehole.

Secondly, the NFL influenced Jack Gibson. You remember that bloke?

Thirdly, NFL could be called a "regional" sport, just like AFL. But the difference is that the NFL's has 250 million people, not 12 million. And the salary cap for one NFL club is more than the combined salary cap for every AFL club.

Fourthly, there are a couple of Australians currently playing in the NFL apart from other nationalities. Only Americans?

I love Rugby League with a passion, but I'm not prepared to denigrate another sport for no reason other than I don't like the culture of the country it's played in.

I know what a quarter back is, I know what line backers are and I know they have four downs and that they can tackle from any angle at anyone etc... I know alot more than you think I do about it. As I said I worked with this american bloke who said league was a "boring and primitive sport" compared to NFL, and he tried to get me into NFL with that argument... I have watched a fair bit of the stuff, just never more than 10 mins of the stuff at a time! Everyone goes on about how tactical it is, which is true, but I personally prefer watching people play chess to NFL, at least watching chess you don't get interupted with 5 mins of commericals after every move! It's a ridiculous sport and all their players are utterly useless!

Oh yeah and here's one for you, AFL influenced Andrew Johns! Remember that bloke???

Well, you are dumber than you look. Who'd have thought that was possible?

You're the one bagging NFL when it's well known that NRL Coaches take plenty of notice of what goes on in the NFL. At the end of most seasons, there are NRL coaches heading for the states. Ask Your own coach if NFL has anything to do with his coaching methods.... Then ask him the same question about Union and AFL....

Well then your not so clever yourself either... All sports do that idiot! The England cricket team sought advice from clive woodward at one stage and Union coaches in England ask soccer coaches about their methods aswell.

Again.

Ask YOUR coach about which code has influenced his coaching methods.

Do you really thing that Union would have an effect on his coaching methods?

England Cricket team - Our Bunnies.

English Union team - Who cares. most boring team in any sport ever.

English Soccer team - Everyone's bunnies.

So your using those teams success in your argument then... Obviously the England Rugby team won every trophy in their grasp, so the only thing you could think up was "who cares"... pathetic!

And I didn't mean the English national soccer team, I meant the coaches of the premier league teams like Man U etc...

I should have said "who cares about Rugby" generally.

And I know who you meant, which NRL coaches have gone to England to see Soccer's coaching methods?

Also, remind me again, which is bigger internationally? NFL or Rugby Union?

Do you know the answer to that question?

See if you can prove it.

And what will be the basis for the comparison?

Crowds?

Well shit, the NFL plays to packed houses every week of it's season. and that's not even bothering to mention College Football.

Union plays to packed houses a couple of times a year. And once, in 2003, its World Cup did well.

Money?

Every NFL team has a salary cap of 80 million US Dollars.

TV?

The Super Bowl is one of the most watched sporting events world-wide every year. The Bledisloe Cup isn't.

There you go, I've given you a start.......

The Rugby World Cup was watched by more people in more country's around the world than the super bowl mate. It was Ranked the 3 biggest sporting event in the world after the Soccer and Olympics.

Wayne Bennett is one of the most influencial and successful coaches of his time.

The NFL is a sport he takes plenty of notice of. He often travelled to the states to meet with NFL teams and try to get some ideas from their style of play.

He's been doing it for ages and he pays alot of credit for some of the successful Broncos teams he coached to his studies of American Football.

I've never once heard him mention Union or AFL though.

Cheers.
